Goals/Questions: Who was John Locke and what were his ideas?
Notes:
John Locke was a philosopher in the sixteenth century. He believed that in the state of
nature the society is mostly peaceful. He believed that children are born tabula rasa, which
means blank slate, and that experiences shape them. He also believed that men are naturally
born with rights that cant be taken away, which are life, liberty and property and the government
exists to protect those rights, if the government fail to do so, people will have the rights to
overthrow the government.

Reflection: I completed the goal for todays research. I learned who John Locke was and what
his political ideas were. I mostly agree with Lockes idea because they were reasonable. The
websites I used were very resourceful and easy to understand. For the next class, I will do some
research about Thomas Hobbes.

Date: August 30, 2017

Goals/Questions: Who was Thomas Hobbes and what were his ideas?
Notes:
Thomas Hobbes was a philosopher in the sixteenth century. He believed that in the state
of nature the society resembles a civil war. He believed that people are naturally bad and selfish
and peace only exists if there is an absolute power. He also believed that theres no God-given
rights and that government is the one who gives the citizen rights, thus they can be taken away
and people have no rights to revolt.

Reflection: I completed the goal for todays research. I learned who Thomas Hobbes was and
what his political ideas were. I mostly disagree with Hobbess idea because they were too
pessimistic. The websites I used were very resourceful and easy to understand. For the next
class, I will compare Lockes and Hobbes idea to see what are the similarities and differences .

differences

Reflection: I completed the goal for todays research. I noticed how different Lockes and
Hobbess ideas were, even though they both agreed upon having governments. I personally
agreed with Locke more than Hobbes because he was less pessimistic than Hobbes. I believe
that no one is born naturally bad, I dont think people need to be forced to follow the laws,
people have common sense. For next class, I will begin researching about the French
Revolution.

Date: September 6, 2017

Goals/Questions: To understand about the French Revolution
Notes:
French Revolution began in 1789 and ended in the late 1790s. Like the American
Revolution before it, the French Revolution was influenced by Enlightenment ideals. The reason
why it happened is because King Louis left France in bankruptcy after meddling with the
American Revolution. French people live in poverty for 20 years as a consequence. The taxes
were high and even breads were expensive. The citizen overthrew the monarchy and took
control of the government. The darkest period of the French Revolution was called the Reign of
Terror. It was a period where a man named Robespierre was in charge of t he National
Convention and the Committee of Public Safety. He introduced a law that said anyone
suspected of treason will be executed by guillotine and thousands of people were executed. It
ended when Napoleon Bonaparte took the power and replaced the Directory with the Consulate
on November 9, 1799. The French Revolution put an end to the French Monarchy, the feudal
system and took over political power from catholic churches.

Reflection: I completed the goal for todays research. I learned about French Revolution, how
it happened, what was the cause, how it ended, and how it affected modern days law. I didnt
have a hard time finding information at all, everything was clearly written in the websites. It was
a bit of a challenge to summarise the French Revolution in my own words, though. For next
class, we will start writing the lyrics for the music video.
Date: September 8, 2017
Goals/Questions: Finish at least half of the lyrics

Reflection: We managed to finish half of the lyrics. It was not an easy task at all. I actually
respect songwriters and singers more because of this. Writing song lyrics is a challenge in itself,
but to make it sounds as less ridiculous as possible? A whole another story. We also have to
make the lyrics comprehensible or at least semi. So this was very challenging.

Date: September 9, 2017

Goals/Questions: Record the first half of the song
Reflection: We recorded our voice for just the first half of the song because we werent done
with all the lyrics yet, so we decided to just get on with what we have. We went to a legit
recording studio for this as well. We had some trouble with how to fit the lyrics into the melody
and we had to modify some of the lyrics when we actually sang. Overall, it was a success.

Goals/Questions: Finish the second half of the lyrics

Reflection: We finished the second half of the lyrics. So we thought the first half was a pain to
get done? It got nothing on this part. It was the hook of the song and it was extra hard to write
the lyrics. The choice of song was actually brought up at one point in our discussion. But we got
it done anyway and we are quite proud of it.

Date: September 10, 2017

Goals/Questions: Record the second half of the song
Reflection: We were done recording our song. Even though the lyrics are a pain to write, we
still got it done in time. When we actually sang, like the day before, we had to cut out and add in
some words in order for it to fit in with the melody. We also recheck the whole song to see if
there were some parts that we needed to re-record. So, our first half of the project is done.
