Submitted multiple transportation requests to the state for
assistance.

Bringing the Population Home

The general population returned on Tuesday, September 12 from
both the Augusta and Douglas sheltering sites.
The receiving operation lasted a mere seven hours, while
receiving over 2,300 passengers.
The Functional Access and Medical Needs population was
returned on Wednesday, September 13.
Over 200 homes had to be inspected for structural integrity,
running water and electricity prior to returning the residents to
their homes.

Preliminary reports from the National Weather Service indicate
the storm surge for Chatham County was at approximately 5.63
feet.
The Tide Gauge at Ft. Pulaski registered at 12.24, just shy of
the Highest Tide for Hurricane Matthew (12.4 feet).
There were multiple swift water rescues from homes and at
least one vehicle.
Damage Assessment Report:
91,697 homes surveyed
7 homes were destroyed
369 homes had major damage
445 homes had minor damage
560 homes were affected
90,316 homes were not damaged
