I. INTRODUCTION
This procedure defines the methodology for repairing of unacceptable concrete surfaces
of rafts @ ___. The methodology shall be adopted and executed by ___ for the corrective
action in conformance with finish class U4 as per project specifications and approved
Method Statement for Concrete Works Ref. 2.

II. REQUIREMENT
1. Approval and repair execution shall be as per ITP of ___
2. The strength, durability and other characteristics of the repair materials shall be 50
Mpa or higher.
3. Acceptance of repaired area shall meet the following criteria:
a. Even and uniform smooth surface at 10mm deviation for every 3 meters
b. Defect and crack free surface
c. The same finish level of surface for the entire raft
4. Mixing and pouring time shall not exceed ___ minutes at 35 Degrees Centigrade
ambient temperature.
5. Sampling of mixture for repair mater material shall be executed by ___- as per
standard sampling and testing procedure.

III. REFERENCE
Execution of works shall be read in conjunction with the following references and
approvals:

1. Concrete Dimension Plan on R1

2. Concrete - Section

IV. RESOURCES:

V. METHODOLOGY
1. Clear and barricade the area to be repaired.
2. Conduct investigation of the defective area:
a. Prepare topographic survey report showing the deviation of the surface.
b. Determine the extent of the defects in the raft surface to be repaired showing the
locations in the shop drawing
3. Surface preparation
a. The area for repair should be sawn cut.
b. For wide area: roughen surface of the concrete using concrete milling machine,
angle grinder with grinder masonry blades and mechanical chisel. Removing of
surface shall be 10mm minimum from the surface of hardened concrete.
c. Deep undulation shall be roughened using mechanical chisel.
d. Ensure that the surface is clean, dry, even, dense and free from oil, grease, dust
and other contaminants.
e. Clean the substrate using brush and air compressor.
f. Acceptance of surface preparation shall be clean, damp, rough and sound
concrete substrate.

4. Place shutter when required especially at the edge of the raft

5. Priming
a. Pre-soak the concrete surface with clean water for a minimum of 1 hour before
repairing. Use hessian cloth to keep the moisture on the substrate.
b. Remove excess water. Keep the surface damp.
6. Mixing
a. Determine the required volume of repair material prior to mixing and calculate
the number of material by using data from #2 and 83 bags/m
b. Prepare the listed material and tools. Sufficient materials and proper tools shall
be checked prior to proceed.
c. Use the flowable mixing proportion which shall be 3.35 to 3.5 liters of clean water
per 25 kg bag of Concrete repair material
d. For 1 bag per mixing, use bucket with slow mixing drill with attached paddle.
e. For 2 to 5 bags per mixing, use portable mechanical concrete mixer
f. Add concrete repair material to the water slowly into the mixing container. Mixing
should be continued for 3 minutes until uniform consistency is obtained
7. Pouring:
a. Mixture can be placed using bucket or wheel barrow.
b. Allow the material to flow to the area to be repaired. Distribute with the aid of
troweling tools.
c. Ensure continuous pouring of interval not to exceed 15 minutes of succeeding
pour.
d. Gradually add adequate amount of mixture to match the level with the
surrounding concrete.
8. Finishing:
a. Let the poured mixture settle down to match the desired level and grade as per
project requirement.
b. Smooth the bounds of the poured mixture to match the texture of the
surrounding concrete.
c. Let it dry and ensure to protect the repaired area from foot traffic for 24 hours
and vehicle traffic for at least 3 days.

9. Curing:
a. Once the surface start to hardened, cover the newly repaired area with damp
hessian clothe, polythene sheet and extruded foam
b. Apply continuous wetting of water for 3 days.
