Howdy!

********Designers Notes***********
2009 update: changed the HQ unit (the KG efile now allows upgrades for HQ class)
the Recce unit (from Armored to Light) and deleted
the Krad-recce unit (you'll have to buy it later ;-) - only the 1st battle (Spain)
was edited.

The 2008 update version has some minor changes (mostly time-turnsallowed per each
vicoty condition)
in the sceanrios that came about from further play-testing. I played exyensively
at 50% -
the experienced campaigner will fing 50% very challeng to get many BVs.

Here's my KG E-file conversion of the SSI Blitzkrieg Campaign. It takes advantage

of all of the additional
capabilities of the PG2UK210.exe game engine as well as my newly completed
Kampfgruppe Battalion Organization
and Doctrine based Equipment file.

> Experienced new units.

> Sound and smack file assignment (all SSI)
> Prototype assignment period.
> Much more - too many to list.

This is different from the SSI Blitzkrieg because:

1. Used some new ideas to improve scenarios playability and enhance the
computer's AI
to give you a good battle - modification to the objectives and start locations
give this a whole new feel.

2. Re-arranged the scenario battle flow, to inlcude 3 decision 'scenarios', to

decrease the early war battles
by 2 - this was a little tedious from the inability to buy better stuff during
build phases and also gave
the core troops too much experience for mid war battles. This also results in
two modified paths; a super-success
path to the USA and a historical flow that puts you on the defending the reich
path.

3. Fine tuned the prestige cap and prestige awards a little more. This to make
build phases more fun....
....but you must manage your prestige or you'll run into trouble later.

**********Game play notes***********

> I moved the objectives to try to better reflect the historical importance of key
locations as well as key objectives.

> I used SSI maps and changed only one .map file - Malta - so the campaign player
still has and airfield (notionally Scicily)
even though no Axis forces own any terrain on Malta at the start of the battle.

> I do not have any reinforcements arriving 'in the players rear area' - but note
the location of the enemy(computer) supply
hexes - if you ignore these they will be on your flanks...and possibly a serious
threat.....

> I use extensive obstacles (road bloacks and mines) where & when they were
historically used. It does NOT pay to fly-blind
down a road with units in transport formations.......

> Every scenario has an 'Intelligence update' directly under the SSI text/audio -
this is to give you an idea of what is to come
(or how the KG version is different than the SSI version) - I highly recommend you
read this! (I'm not trying to be tricky either.)

> Some scenarios also have an 'Operations update' location under the 'Intelligence
update'- this tells you of changes that affect
auxillery forces situations and possible late arrivals (reinforcements) - also good
to know info!

> I did use overstrength in some scenarios - this is less a play-balance /

difficulty and more a reflection of the historical
battle (cases where the Germans were historically understrength but the Allied
forces were not - or where the Allied forces
were overstrength such as major invasions and major campaign attacks.)

> I tried to reflect the Allied force compositions and historical numbers - for
example the Western Allies will have much more
aircraft than the Russians, and the Russians will have lots more ground forces than
the Western Allies, as a percentage of
the force arrayed against you.

> Lastly, BV's are difficult to get - you must be truly brilliant to get BVs in
many battles....getting a V or a TV is normally
a very honorable outcome (Note - keep an eye on the Campaign flow chart) and you
MUST get a BV in either Klin(1941) or Volokolamsk(1941)
to be able to proceed to England and then the USA for an offensive victory, all
else sends you to Defending the Reich battles.

> A loss will end the campaign. In almost every instance a TV is easily done - if
not, perhaps you should play at a higher prestige setting?

> I play-tested this at 50% and had a very difficult time getting 50% BVs.....to me
this is perfect.

> I strongly suggest you review the campaign flowchart and campaign matrix that I
made up (jpeg files) as this will help you
in your prestige management and to control your campaign path. With this you
should some tool to monitor your prestige cap
as if you don't you will suffer! The cap is very tight and you will miss out on
1000's of prestige during the build phases if
you don't manage your prestige.

> This uses my KG Equipment file (included in the download) there are many new
things (yet historical) in my KG efile. You should read
my Equipment file designer's notes to get a good understanding of what I tried to
do, and, more importantly, how to best use the units.
