that can be used in a new tourist brochure for the Camden
Vocational Scenario or
area. As a freelancer you are keen to get this job. So that

freelancers are ready to hand in the following two tasks.

Topic A.1 How digital photography is produced

Produce a PowerPoint presentation that uses images and


examples to show how digital photographs are produced.
You need to have information on the following:

The component parts of a camera and how it captures


images.

Digital photographs are produced using:

Task 1 Cameras
o manual mode (digital single lens reflex (SLR))
o automatic mode (digital single lens reflex (SLR);hand-held
devices, e.g. smartphone cameras, point and shoot)

Capturing images
o viewfinder (screen)
o lens (functions, types)
o image sensor
o aperture (f. stops)
o shutter and shutter speed
o memory (memory card, internal storage)
Lighting
o flash
o exposure (e.g. under, over)
o colour (temperature: warm, cold)
o white balance
o lights (tungsten, fluorescent, natural, artificial)

o hand held
o tripod

o type, e.g. RAW, Jpeg
o size.

Your PowerPoint should specifically outline what happens


when light enters a digital camera and explain how all
the parts work together to produce the photograph. If
you get information from sources on the internet or books,
you must credit this information. You must not copy and
paste information, it must be in your own words.

Topic A.2 Why digital photographs are produced for


media products

All photographs are used as a means of VISUAL


COMMUNICATION. Using two different media sectors as case
studies (news, DVD front covers, film posters, CD covers,
books, adverts, websites) you must analyse WHY
Task 2 photographs were taken and HOW they visually
communicate meaning.

Photographs are taken for many reasons. Using your two


chosen sectors you must identify and compare the
purposes of photography using a minimum of 3
photographs from the two sectors as examples.
