Argumentative Essay

Students should be able to take French or

Spanish beginning in sixth grade. The study
of a foreign language creates an appreciation
for other cultures and lessens prejudice.
Studying a foreign language strengthens
other important skills like problem solving and
creative thinking. Learning a foreign
language improves our knowledge of our own
language. Opponents of this idea may say
that it would be expensive to buy the
curriculum and hire the teachers needed to
make this change. We have to consider this
as a vital investment in our students future.
Money spent on foreign language instruction
will prepare these students to take their place
in the global world of the twenty-first century.
We should begin today implementing plans to
make French and Spanish instruction part of
the curriculum offered at Sailorway Middle
School for the 2017- 2018 school year.
