Something about Project…

 Since last four years in Vidharbha, as many


as 2173 farmers have committed suicide.
 Yavatmal district is the worst affected, 330
farmers have committed suicide within the
span of 18 months.
 The farmers are prone to these suicidal
attempts due to continuous drought, the
rising prices of seeds and costly fertilizers
and insecticides and low prices of the
agricultural products.
 Many local aspects are involved in it as well.
 The Mandal has accepted to shoulder the
responsibility by starting Dindayal Farmer
Development Project.
Our Scheme

Generally , two aspects taken into consideration in


Dindayal farmer development project.

 To help the family of the farmers who have


committed suicide.

 Student Adoption Scheme
Vivekanand Chhatravas; which is run by our institution has made
necessary arrangement to educate the children of the farmers, who
have committed suicide. Six children have been adopted up till now,
and ten more children will be adopted next year.

 Scholarship Scheme for students:
100 children of the suicidal farmers and those who are
learning in their own villages will be given an annual
scholarship of Rs.1000/-.
So far 25 children have been given such scholarship.
 Dipawali (Bhaubeej):-
In order to enlighten the lamp of happiness in the
families of such farmers, we have visited fifty such
families and gifted saree-choli, sweets and bhaubeej
(cash) to consol them and cheer them up.

 Scheme for making the suicidal farmer’s
family self-dependent
A survey of 150 families of such farmers have been
undertaken and scheme of helping them financially to
the tune of Rs.20000/- for starting a small business has
been chalked out, in order to refrain them from asking
any other’s financial assistance.

Farmer’s Training Program for
Organic Farming
 We have selected 60 villages in pandharkawda
and Yavatmal taluka from 6 centers and their
survey has been done.
 From each village, 15 to 20 farmers have been
selected under this scheme.
 Training camps on 6 selected centers were
conducted for these farmers in order to teach
them organic farming. 1000 farmers participated in
these camps.

Distribution of Seeds

 Seeds of cotton and jowar were distributed free of


charge to 1000 selected farmers.
Self-Help Group scheme
 Self-Help Group, consist of youngsters and women from
selected families will be formed to start various small
scale industries in the village like dairy, goat-farming,
piggery, Honey-bee farming, Threshing machine,
kadaba-cutter etc.

 A special tour of selected farmers has been arranged to
inspect the organic farming of such farmers who have
done it successfully.
Self Employment Scheme

 With a view to create a conductive atmosphere in the


village for the farmers and thus refrain them from leaving
the villages. Training will be given and professional
guidance will be imparted to them regarding agricultural
industries.
