Word Study Dally Activities
Monday: Have your child cut their new sort. Remind your child to sort the words into
categories. We call them features, so please try to use that language. Your chiki should
read each word during this activity. Ask your child to explain to you why the words are
sorted In aparticular way - what the sort reveats about the speling or sounds of words.
Ask your child to sort them a second time as fast as possible.
Tuesday: Do a speed sort (sort them quickly) and then do an additional activity below.
Wednesday: Do a speed sort and then do an additional activity below:
Thursday: Do a writing sort to prepare for the challenge. As you call out words in random
order your child should write thern In thelr sorts. Call out any words your child misspelis a
second or third time. If time allows, choose another Tic Tac Toe choice.

board, and play with the
same list of words, to
see who will win.
Shaving Cream Fun
Use shaving cream on a
standing mirror and write each
word. This promotes shoulder
strength for good handwriting.
