We would hope that you will make an effort to join us on Sunday Morning beginning at 9:15am to learn about your orthodox faith and grow in the Lords vineyard. This year we will focus on the Old Testament readings in the Bible beginning with the Book of Genesis. WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP OUT: On the weekend of October 28th and 29th His Eminence Archbishop Michael will be with us for the celebration of the 40th Wedding Anniversary of our Rector Father John and Matushka Ludmila. They both have contributed to the success of our parish and have put in hours of work for the Love of Our Lord. On this weekend we will provide two meals for our guests, one Saturday evening after Vespers and the other on Sunday after the Liturgy. If anyone would like to contribute to defray the cost of these meals please see Matushka Ludmila at the candle desk. Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated. WHY WE LIGHT CANDLES IN THE ORTHODOX CHURCH: The meaning of candles in the Orthodox Church is symbolic during ceremonies within the Orthodox Church. It represents the light of Christ according to Jesus own words: I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. Candles are used extensively throughout the church as continual, inanimate prayers offered by the candles benefactor to God or saints usually on behalf of a third party, although they can be offered for any purpose. As the burning candle illuminates darkness, so must the light of Christ shine before men. PARISH COUNCIL will hold their next meeting on Sunday October 15th. All Parish Council members are requested to be there. WE ARE HIRING: Our parish is in need of a new Choir Director. We offer a monthly salary, plus extra compensation for special services, and an apartment with utilities. If you know of anyone who is interested please contact, Father John at 732-928-3223. WE ARE LOOKING FOR A REASONABLE TREE CUTTER AND STUMP GRINDER: At the parish Home we have about eight stumps that need to be grinded down and a tree that needs to be cut down near the Parish home. If you know of anyone who might want to donate their time or who will give the church a reasonable price for their services, please call Father John.
