Summary of OJT Learning

One of my most awaited parts of the architecture programs curriculum was the On
the Job Training. Why? Because it was a preparation for the real architecture profession.
It was an environment to enhance and develop ones skill in that field of specialization.

During that more than a month training, I, together with my co-trainees, was
introduced to a new environment. By saying new, I mean it was as if we were already in
the real architecture profession. We were trained to manage and supervise the site. We
were also taught in-depth specifications and layout.

I also learned new things that were not taught in school. Specifically, things like the
vernacular terms used on-site. It was an amazing experience to know that there are things
that were only obtained in the site.

I had to admit I had mixed emotions during the training. Of course it was a challenge
since there were things that required critical management. At the same time, I had fun
learning new things. With the aid of my superiors and my colleagues, I gained
knowledge in the training which for sure would be very helpful in my future job.

I see this summers OJT not just a requirement to be passed but more of a character-
building experience. It has helped me improved my personal, social, as well as my
physical and mental aspects. It enabled me to get out of my comfort zone and embrace
the atmosphere of camaraderie, professionalism, and selfless service.
