Anti Downdraught & Ventilating Chimney Cowl

The main purpose of the Spinner Chimney Cowl is to prevent the penetration of the chimney by
moderate or severe winds which cause smoke to escape from an open fireplace or stove.

Thanks to sail design blade fins, the Spinner Chimney Cowl responds to wind coming from
any direction.

Its response is immediate because of its double bearing pivot action. The more severe the
wind the more effective the Spinner Chimney Cowl becomes.

When revolving, the Spinner Chimney Cowl also ventilates the chimney shaft helping keep it
dry and it can also prevent back up smells coming down into the room via the fireplace
or stove.

The Spinner Chimney Cowl also protects the chimney from moisture ingress and nesting birds.
If your problem is driving rain, a Static Chimney Cowl offers more protection than either the Spinner
Chimney Cowl or Anti Bird / Anti Rain Chimney Cowl.

The SPINNER Anti Downdraught Chimney Cowl

TECHNICAL
Constructed from robust high grade stainless steel. Available in two colours attractive matt
stainless steel or terracotta painted stainless steel.

The revolving mechanism within the Spinner Chimney Cowl is a sealed double bearing unit for
long lasting life the high temperature grease used is rated to 250 degrees C.

Suitable for use with oil, gas and solid fuels (except wet logs and treated timber, anthracite
and fuels with a high sulphur content or moisture content >20% these eventually damage
the bearings).

The Spinner Chimney Cowl is manufactured to BS EN1856-1:2009, is CE marked and

independently tested and certified by BSRIA UK.

Tested for many years in the most varied of weather conditions, proven in solving
downdraughtproblems, regardless of wind severity.

Because we are so confident in the Spinner Chimney Cowls quality and durability, we offer a
1 yearguarantee against any defect in workmanship and materials.

FITTING
The Spinner Chimney Cowl will suit most standard chimney pots the Spinners base diameter
is 8 or 200mm and it is very easy to fit only a screw driver is required. Full instructions
supplied with each product.

Leg length is 105mm - suitable for standard chimney pots. Longer legs (235mm - as an
optional extra) are available for ornamental / decorative pots.

To fit the Spinner Chimney Cowl to a prefabricated flue or small chimney pot a Spinner Adapter
is required - available in 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 9.

When fitted correctly, the Spinner Chimney Cowl will not detach regardless of wind strength.
NOT SUITABLE FOR
The Spinner Chimney Cowl must not be used on a chimney shorter than 5.5m or 18 feet as the
excess heat from shorter chimneys will damage the bearings.

Will not prevent a downdraught if the chimney is more than 4 feet lower than the apex of the
roof or a taller structure, hedge or tree(s). In such situations, a Super C or R Electrical Chimney
Cowl will be needed.

This cowl will not prevent a downdraught problem when there is no wind if the problem still
exists when there is no wind (in conditions such as cold, calm or frost) the problem is a lack
of draught (not a downdraught) and a Super C or R Electric Chimney Cowl is required. No anti
downdraught chimney cowl can solve a lack of draught.

The Spinner Chimney Cowl should not be used on a chimney whose diameter is greater than
230mm or 9 ID.
