Cuddalore: NLC India Limited (NLCIL) recorded the highest profit

after tax since (PAT) its inception during 2016-17. PAT zoomed
42.9% year-on-year (y-o-y) to Rs 2,342.9 crore for the financial year.
The company witnessed growth on all fronts sales turnover, total
income, profit before and after tax, power generation, lignite
excavation and overburden excavation for the fiscal year 2016-17,
said chairman and managing director S K Acharya.

The sales turnover of the company jumped 30.38% y-o-y to Rs


8,672.84 crore in 2016-17. Total income surged 30.24% y-o-y to Rs
9,347.25 crore during the financial year. Profit before tax stood at Rs
3,027.56 crore as against Rs 1,856.07 crore in 2015-16 registering a
63.12% y-o-y growth. The company paid a dividend of 73.4%
amounting to Rs 1,121.97 crore to the shareholders including the
union government whose share stood at Rs 1,002.2 crore.
