National

New Appointments

Diplomat Vipul on 3 April 2017 took charge as the new Consul General
of Dubai. Vipul is a 1998 batch Indian Foreign Service officer.
B P Kanungo took over as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of
India (RBI).
Indian Police Service officer Geetha Johri was appointed as the first
woman Director General of Police (DGP) of Gujarat. She will be taking
over this position in addition to her present post as Managing Director of
Gujarat Police Housing Corporation.

retirement from the company.
The National Association of Software and Services Companies
(NASSCOM) announced the appointment of Raman Roy its Chairman

currently to sit at the court.

Death

Kishori Amonkar, the renowned Hindustani classical vocalist, passed

Robert Taylor, a pioneer of Modern Computing and the Internet has
passed away at the age of 85.
Emma Morano, the worlds oldest woman has passed away in Italy at
the age of 117.
Veteran actor and politician Vinod Khanna has expired at the age of 70.
He was said to be suffering from cancer. Khanna is married twice and is
survived by four children.
