If you love to sing, then youre already aware that singing is fun, energizing and a great
stress reducer. If youre facing physical, emotional or mental challenges, or if you just want
more peace and happiness, here are ways singing can change your life.
As you begin to use full body breathing with a relaxed, soft belly, you allow the
diaphragm to drop, giving the lungs the freedom to expand more fully. Relaxed abdominals are
essential for proper breath support while singing.
As you use full body breathing, you are bringing in a greater volume of air. Oxygen floods
the blood system, bathing the cells in life-giving oxygen. You will feel more alive as you
breathe deeply and fill yourself with energizing, oxygenated air! Singing oxygenates the blood!
Besides, singing requires thought. You are memorizing lyrics, melodies and rhythms, as
well as connecting words with emotion. Your singers breathing technique is bringing more
oxygen to the brain. Your brains neurons are firing furiously as you are integrating the

6
physical, emotional and psychological functions necessary to joyful singing! Singing stimulates
brain activity!
All this physical, neurological and emotional activity serves to release those feel-good
hormones called endorphins. So not only is your audience benefiting from your lovely voice,
but you are being flooded with happy hormones that give you a sense of peace and well-being.
Singing feels fantastic because it releases feel good endorphins!
Considering the facts, it is good for you to sing every day, but please choose songs with

DESPITE SUSPECT STATUS, AHOK REMAINS FRONT-RUNNER
Moses Ompusunggu and CallistasiaAnggunWijaya
The Jakarta Post
Jakarta | Wed, November 16, 2016| 07:50 pm

Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" TjahajaPurnama will likely remain the front-runner in
Februarys gubernatorial election even after the National Police named him a blasphemy
suspect on Wednesday, although pressure will mount for him to maintainer increase his
popularity rating, observers say.
Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) analyst AryaFernandes said Ahok would
remain a tough candidate to beat but it could be more arduous for him to attract swing voters
due to his suspect status.
"Twenty-five to 30 percent of eligible voters are undecided on which of the three
candidates to vote for. With the police naming him a suspect, it wont be easy for Ahok to
attract this group of people," he said on Wednesday.
The Regional Elections Law does not prohibit criminal suspects from contesting
elections.

7
The police named Ahok a blasphemy suspect after a case screening on Tuesday. Although
Ahok has not been detained, a travel ban has been slapped on him.
Recent polls before the announcement revealed that Ahok remained more popular than
the other two gubernatorial candidates -- former education and cultural minister
AniesBaswedan and AgusHarimurtiYudhoyono, the son of former president
SusiloBambangYudhoyono -- although his popularity is declining.
Sirajuddin Abbas, program director of SaifulMujani Research and Consulting (SMRC),
said Ahoks suspect status would attract more attention and pity.
"As someone from a minority group, Ahok is being treated unfairly by the majority.
Those who share this thought may be more convinced to vote for Ahok," he said.
However, he said it was very likely that the other candidates would use the blasphemy
issue to try to lure more Muslim voters. "Such an approach will not succeed in attracting
Jakarta voters, who mostly have been critical of this issue."

24. Which of the following statements shows the main idea of paragraph 5 ?
A. The popularity of Ahok before he was announced to be a suspect.
B. The result of some opinion poll for the three candidates of governor.

D. Ahok has been declared to be suspect in the case of defamation of religion.

High mountain barrier, cold ocean currents and high pressure systems cause the deserts
to remain dry.
When warm air passes over the ocean, it picks up moisture in the form of water vapor.
As this moist air travels over the land, it rises to pass over mountain ranges. When it begins to
rise, the air cools droplets, which fall as rain. When the air reaches the other side of the
mountain barrier, it has lost all its moisture, so the other side of the mountain remains dry.
Air passing over cold ocean currents is cooled and therefore, unable to pick up and hold
much moisture. When this cold air mass reaches the warm desert, any moisture in the air is
evaporated and it does not fall as rain. So the desert remains dry.
In a high pressure system, the air is dry and is moving downwards. As this system over
land, it draws the moisture from the land surface. Consequently, the moisture does not fall as
rain, so the desert remains dry.
42. The desert remains dry because .
A. The moisture falls as rain
B. The air keeps all its moisture
C. The air is evaporated into moisture
D. The moisture is evaporated in the warm temperature
E. The dry air picks up the moisture from the land surface
43. What happens when the moist air rises and passes the mountain ranges?

B. The air cycle begins and ends in rain
C. The cool air makes it condensed and fall as rain
D. The high pressure system changes them into droplets
E. it loses all its moisture

Dear Rossa,
I am a guy, twenty-eight years old. I have a problem with a girl friend. She is twenty
five years old. We have been dating each other for years, since we were high school students.
Now we have jobs. I feel very sure that we love each other. Now it is time for me to get
married. Unfortunately, her parents never approve of our relationship ever since the very first
time. My family, anyhow, does not really mind.
At first I thought my girl friend had the power to defend our love. But then she
surrendered. She loves, me and she loves her family, too. On the one hand she said, "I'll be
happy if my family is happy." It means she had to get approval from her parents. For this I was
shocked. My heart was broken. She ended our relationship just at the time when I was ready to
marry her.
When I was with her, we were very happy. We had a lot in common and there were no
conflicts. The truth was, we separated only because of her parents. They want her to marry her
cousin, her aunt's son (this is one of the traditions in the Kerosene).
For the time being I am very upset. When I miss her I call her. Then we can eat
together, talk together for hours. We act like elating because she loves me, too. The real
problem is, she cannot refuse what her parents want.
So, should I forget my girl friend, the only one that I truly love? Or else, should I just
wait, and dream that one day she will be back to me.
Rio N., Padang

Dear Rio,
