This is a vest type waste collector that user wears it and it's pipes can be joined to anal and

genital area
via sticky labels. Astronaut can wear this attachment within 3 minutes.

In this design we eliminate diapers, instead using bags for fecal and urine. Orange astronaut suit
requires no changes to be fitted to the wearable waste collector and this system needs a power source.
In this system, pipes (that transfer fecal and urine to bags) stick to anal and genital by sticky labels and
isolate these areas from the environment in the suit. We use a peristaltic pipe to transfer fecal to red
bag and a suction pipe to transfer urine to yellow bag.
Benefits:

1. quick putting on and taking off the waste collector vest and attaching/ detaching the labels.

2. user comfort after defecation and no limitation for twisting, walking and bending.

3. easy removing of waste bags.

4. possibility of collecting the waste materials for recycling purposes.

First, setting up and attachments are easy processes because the system is unique and comes in form of
wearable belt. Second, user can attach the connecting tubes to genitalia and anal by himself/ herself.
The required time for wearing an attachments is about 3 min.

Parts:

In this method a mask shape sticky label is stack to genitals ( such as stool bag labels in colostomy
surgery). This label is connected to a pipe, and there is a suction pump at the end of the pipe. There is a
urine filter next to the suction pump. When urine passes the filter, purified urine inters the yellow bag
(urine bag). There is a liquid sensitive device inside the mask shape label, as soon as urine passes the
mask, the suction pump will start.

This purified urine can be used for washing the anus and genital area and prevents Inflammation of
mucus layers. We designed the bag for carrying 1L of purified urine but extra bag with 5 liter capacity is
located next to the leg.

For men sheathing catheter or condom catheter can be used and the rest process is such as women
urine connection.

fecal collecting system is consists of 3 main part.

1. Sticky label for anal.

2. peristaltic tube.

3. fecal bag and it's filter.

The overall surfaces inside the tube are sealed with liquiglide material which is so slippery and stool
wont stick to them.

1.Sticky label for anal:

The surface of label divided to weak( outer part) and strong ( inner part). First the weak sticker seal will
be removed and user positions the peristaltic tube on the anal area, then stick the outer part of the label
to Perineum area, afterward the inner label seal must be removed from the slot so that label can be fully
stack to anal area. There is a washing ring with 3 nozzles that sprays the purified urine on the anus hole
in order to clean it.
2. Peristaltic tube:

peristaltic tube diameter is about 30 mm. When emptied, its section is linear( in order to user don't
sense tube among the buttock). While stool is passing the tube, the section turns to circle.

The tube's trunk is made of small balloons. This small balloons will be pumped one by one, so that stool
can be move forward. Same process is done in air massager.

The end of the peristaltic tube is connected to fecal bag. It's air pump and valves are situated on the
fecal bag ( green part).

3. Fecal bag:

This bag uses a sliding mechanism to join to the peristaltic tube ( the same process can be seen in
vacuum cleaner bags). the bag volume is about 700 cc. We considered 700 cc for the bag to store fecal,
purified urine that used for washing the anal hole and gas.

There is a small gas valve coupled with a gas filter that sends out the gas from the bag to the suit so that
suit can filter the gas itself. This bag located in the body side so the user can fully bend himself.

In our system, menstrual waste enters the urine connection system so that filter can separate solid parts
of the blood from serum and then serum transmitted to the bag.

for women same anal washing method can be used to wash out the blood out of genitalia.

The advantage of this system is that there is no need for any changes in the orange suit. This system
only needs a connecting wire to the orange suit in order to provide electrical power source.

Fastening / opening the vest is so easy and can be done by individuals so provide feeling of comfort.

During defecation he doesn't need napkin or diaper that cause contamination and inflammation of skin.
In addition this washing method can wash Perineum and genital area and it can increase the feeling of
comfort.

Since the waste materials are packed in the bags, user wont feel nasty when bringing them out.

The bag's width is about 30mm and positioned in the sides of the body, so user can bend or twist
himself freely. On the other hand since he doesn't use the diaper, the walking function is so better.

this system acts as a belt so user can change it's size from both back and front to be fitted for him/her.
Sticky label for women are offered in 3 size. small, medium ,large.

sheathing catheter for men as condom is also produced in 3 size.

Usage process
Since this waste management system attached to anal, it prevents the expansion of gas directly to the
suit, instead passes it to the fecal bag via peristaltic tube and then enters the filter that situated on the
bag surface then released to the suit.

Since it collects the user's waste in an isolated area and also offers washing option for anal and genitalia,
inflammation and infections decreased dramatically.

User can wear this device by himself without need for help from other crews.

Since he doesn't need diaper any more, walking is an easier and more enjoyable experience outside.

This system increases the waste storage time, there for will have a positive impact on user confidence.

It also decreases rate of infections and inflammation.

Technologies in this system are currently used in medical devices and tested for years with minimum
risk for users, so we don't need to know about its possibility.
