Key Understanding Learning Point Salvation Topic

C1.2 Identifies community, school
C1 Jesus taught his followers to pray and family intensions for which Prayer
people might pray together

Catholic Teaching Focus for this lesson

When Jesus prays he is already teaching us how to pray But the Gospel also gives us Jesus explicit teaching on
prayer. Catechism 2607

Jesus came to help all people come close to God. For this reason, Jesus gave them the gift of Christian prayer. He
taught his followers, by his example and word, how to pray as Christians.

To help his followers grow closer to God in their families than was previously possible, Jesus taught his followers
about prayer, including praying for each others intentions and asking Mary, the Mother of God, to pray for their
needs.

The purpose of this lesson is to assist the development of students religious awareness. It aims to help them
understand the religious meaning of significant experiences such as family.

Students will develop an understanding of praying together.

Aspects of the Human Person

The significance of prayer and the places in which people can gather to pray together.
