participate in the 2017 TIFF. Tryon has been on the cutting
edge of art since the late 1800s. We are now in the 3rd year of the Tryon International
Film Festival which is brought to you by the Polk County Film Initiative. This is a great
time to showcase our Town, our film artists, and the plethora of other activities in the
surrounding area.

This is also a great time for visitors, both old and new, to see the Town of Tryon. We have
galleries, good food, shops, interesting local history, walking tours, antiques, and the
Tryon Museum. We also offer access to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The Film Initiative and Festival sponsors have done a fantastic job of assembling

takes on the roles of both director and cinematographer
when creating commercials. She has worked with some
of the best Cinematographers in the world. Because
of her background in still photography they always
encouraged Garcia to get behind the camera herself, and
five years into her directing career she took their advice.
She has now been a director/DP for 20 years. I love
having the camera close to my heart. I can move more
intuitively. Traveling and connecting with people from
diverse backgrounds has contributed to the vision she is
committed to in her work. Ive always been interested in
the human condition. That is what drives my storytelling.
In spot after spot, Garcia succeeds in portraying human
stories in a classic, poignant way. Her vibrant energy
infuses everything she does. Ive been blessed to work

on major brands, travel the world and see my clients
succeed with their message. It brings me a lot of joy!

in Europe & travels constantly to her many oces, has
also agreed to speak remotely to the TRIFF audience,
about the relevance and importance of the category.
Sellier was also instrumental for arranging for Cecilia
Pecks inclusion of Brave Miss World to the 2016
programming schedule. Since Sellier is multilingual,
fluent in Spanish, French, English and Farsi, she will
also be selecting all films submitted to the HRHD
category. Further, since Sellier has been devoting her
life to human rights issues, she is well suited for the
task. Over the years, Selliers organization has utilized
television documentaries, billboard campaigns and
other media platforms to help raise awareness on hu-
man abuse. A number of the French, Swiss, and Ger-
man films & visual works which Sellier and her oces
have been involved with have been nominated for
the prestigious prizes, such as PRIX DEBOUZY one of
Frances most prestigious awards and short films/spots
at Cannes film competition categories. Sellier was also
the primary inspiration to Illegitimate Advantage, a
2016 novel written by Kirk Gollwitzer, the co-founder
of TRIFF. Sellier and Gollwitzer are actively working
together to adapt the novel to a major motion picture.

attention to the practice of sexual slavery, which is
growing in all parts of the world, paticularly in the
suburbs of the USA. Please help us expose the atrocity
of child sexual abuse and tracking. With your sup-
port we will call attention to this industry and how
to recognize this abuse. And what better way to do
that than through a movie?! Unbridled is inspired by
the Corral Riding Academy in Cary, NC. Since 2008 the
Corral Riding Academy has been privileged to help
over 100 abused girls through one-year long therapy
programs. They pair up abused girls with abused
horses and through intensive one-on-one training
the girls teach the horses to trust. In the process the
girls also learn to trust again. These true stories of
hope and healing were the inspiration for Unbridled.
A portion of the proceeds from Unbridled sales go
directly to Corral.

Selika
When Selika flees the comfort
and safety of her home in
rural France, she sets out for
Paris to forge her own independent path in the world.
The Adventures of Selika is based on an image of Selika
Lazevski, about whom little is known. The image was by
Felix Nadar, renowned 19th century French photographer
of celebrated people (authors, scientists, painters . . .).
Curious and puzzling, I was struck by the strength and
pride that exude from this image of a beautiful black
woman elegantly dressed in a riding habit, believed to
be an equestrian of haut dressage in 19th century France.
Her gaze confronts us. Without antagonism or apology,
she simply states, I am here. The film reimagines the
crucial events that would lead her along this path.

In the early morning as I
gaze over the misty pastures
of my garden and I see the
first rays of sunlight carefully
making its appearance in
this Dutch landscape; I enjoy
endlessly. Surely, when a young
Carthusian stallion, his coat
a soft grey color, makes his
entrance out of the mist and
starts to play in the still moist grass. His warm breath
and the cold outdoor air combine to create soft fluffy
clouds. Poetry becomes alive as he performs his game of
trot, canter and prancing throwing his young body loose
in the pleasure of being outdoors. His beautiful manes
sing alegrias as he lifts his head up high while his soft
neighing cuts through the silence. My heart fills with joy
when he carefully interrupts his wild display of passion
to approach me with his gentle touch. Showing me his
friendship and trust by including me in his world for a

All The Wild Horses follows five international riders from the USA, Canada, South Africa,
Ireland and the UK as they compete in the Mongol Derby horse race in Mongolia. This
multi-horse, multi-station race over a 1000 kilometers of Mongolian steppe is the longest
and toughest horse race on the planet. The riders are out on their own and navigate
with GPS from horse station to horse station, where they change their horses every 40
kilometers, staying the nights out in the wild or with nomad families along the way. After
a dramatic start, the first casualties are soon medivaced from the field, but this proves to
be only a prelude for whats to come over 8 grueling race days. 22-year-old American rider
Devan Horn battles heat, exhaustion and wild dogs as she takes the lead early on, trailed
relentlessly by Irish jockeys Donie Fahy and Richie Killoran. The race throws up twists and
