Research: The activity that I have chosen is Simon Says which is an interactive game between a leader and participants. Simon Says can be a great way to test all different kinds of physical skills and cognitive skills. I chose to adapt this game for people who have autism spectrum disorder. Autism is a developmental disability which tends to affect a persons ability to communicate and interact with others. Some behaviors that are common with autism include; difficulty making eye contact, holding a conversation, delayed learning of language, and poor motor skills. Simon says is a great game for kids with autism to understand common verbal commands they will face in their everyday life (Newman). I chose to adapt this game by providing visual cue cards so the participants will not only hear the command but they will also be able to visually see the command. This game is great for listening skills, imitating, and following directions. You will also be able to test their immediate recall, their range of motion, and how attentive they were throughout the game.
