CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

A. Research Design

This study made use of experimental method of research.

Experimental research manipulates independent variables. An attempt by the

researcher to maintain control over all factors that may affect the result of an experiment.

In doing this, the researcher attempts to determine or predict what may occur.

Experimental design is a blueprint of the procedure that enables the researcher to

test his hypothesis by reaching valid conclusions about relationships between independent

and dependent variables. It refers to the conceptual framework within which the experiment

is conducted.

Experimental research identify and define the problem, formulate hypotheses and

deduce their consequences, and construct an experimental design that represents all the

elements, conditions, and relations of the consequences.

B. Material

The following materials are used in the experimental research: one (1) lemon

sliced, four (4) cups of water, and 2-inch piece ginger root.

C. Preparation of the Materials

The preparation of the researcher goes this way: grate the ginger into a teapot,

medium bowl, or large measuring cup. Prepare a large mug and sliced the center of the

lemon and squeeze it the large mug.

D. Making of Ginger and Lemon Tea

Subsequently, the procedure of the researcher goes this way: first, pour four cups

of water in the casserole over the sliced ginger and let it steep for 3 minutes. Meanwhile,

put the lemon juice in a large mug. Third, strain the ginger tea in to the lemon juice.

Lastly, stir and taste the ginger lemon tea and add lemon juice if you like and served.

E. Product Development

The researcher prepared a four (4) sets of samples of ginger lemon tea. Sample A.

contained ginger tea in a cup of hot water. Sample B. contained lemon juice in a cup

with warm water. Sample C. contained ginger lemon tea in a cup of hot water. Sample

D. contained of commercialized ginger lemon tea in a cup of hot water. These four (4)

sets of samples were rated by ten (10) respondents in terms of their aroma, taste,

purpose.

F. Research Instrument/Tool

The researcher used the following rating scale to compare the homemade ginger

lemon tea to a commercialized ginger lemon tea in terms of taste, texture, and aroma by

five (5) teachers and five (5) students of Salinas National High School. To determine the
significance difference among the samples, descriptive method and inferential static

were used in this experimental research.
