1.0 Madam Chairpersons speech

1.1 The chairperson thanked and welcomed all teachers to the first meeting of
English Panel 2017, particularly Cik Zalilah binti Shaharuddin who is a new
teacher in SK Putrajaya Presint 16 (1).

1.2 She hoped that all the teachers will give their cooperation and all the
programmes suggested will be carried out successfully.

2.0 Appointment of the new English Panel Committee members

2.1 The English Language Panel Committee members for the year are as follows :

3.0 Approval of the previous minutes

3.1 The Madam Chairperson suggested the previous minutes of meeting to be

approved.

Resolved : Minutes from the meeting on 17 November 2016
approved without modifications.

4.0 Yearly scheme of work and daily lesson plan

4.1 The panel agreed to standardize the format of yearly scheme of work and daily
lesson plan for KBSR and KSSR classes.

5.0 UPSR analysis

5.1 Madam Chairperson summarized the overall performance of year 6 students in

English Language of UPSR Examination 2016.

5.2 She also announced that the target for UPSR 2017 is 88% with 20 pupils are
expected to get grade 6As.

6.0 Target for the year 2017

6.1 The English Panel has decided on a new target for English achievement for
2017. The targets are as stated below.

Year 1 Achieve at least Band 3
Year 2 Achieve at least Band 3
Year 3 Achieve at least Band 3
Year 4 Achieve at least Band 3 performance level 3
Year 5 Achieve at least Band 3 performance level 3

7.0 Linus 2.0 (English literacy)

7.1 Based on the achievement of Linus 2.0s English literacy since it started, 26%
pupils in Year 2 and 54% pupils achievements are in poor level, the pupils
in Year 3 had mastered English literacy. As the achievement were poor,
the committee members were reminded to put more effort and work harder in
order to improve the achievements for the coming LINUS screening with at
least 10% increment.

7.2 Madam Chairperson presented the intervention programme for English

literacy pupils.

7.3 She also reminded all teachers to always refer to the DSKP manual all the time
to make sure that they are on the right track while implementing teaching.
8.0 MBMMBI

8.1 The MBMMBI programmes will continue to be carried out in the year of
2017. Therefore, teachers were advised to use various methods and approach
to teach different level of students. The MBMMBI CDs are available in the
school library.

9.0 English Language suggested activities for the year 2017

9.1 Madam Chairperson has presented the suggested activities for the year 2017.
They are as below :

1. Morning Glory
2. Spell it Right
3. Say it Right

10.0 Other matters

10.1 Teachers are encouraged to make full use of their textbooks and activity
books.

10.2 Madam Chairperson reminded teachers to include the NILAM programme as

part of their lesson by setting suitable tasks when bringing them to the
library.

10.4 All teachers are reminded to increase the effectiveness of teaching and
learning in English literacy classes.

10.5 As to enhance the quality of English knowledge teaching and deliverance,

Madam Chairperson promoted peer-guidance among the members of the panel
by encouraging them to approach each other for help if they face any teaching
constraints.
