The provincial government has set the 2017 rent increase guideline at 1.5%. This guideline applies to rent increases between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017 for most private residential rental units covered by the Residential Tenancies Act. It establishes the maximum a landlord can increase a tenant's rent in a year without applying to the rental housing tribunal.
