False TONER LOW LCD Indication on the DCP 1200

There is a possibility that the DCP 1200 may exhibit a false TONER LOW indication, even though the
Toner is Full. If you suspect a unit has this problem, first verify that the toner is full, next make sure the Toner is
properly seated in the Drum Cartridge and the toner sensor is free of obstruction. If after you have made all of
the preliminary checks, download the latest Flash ROM version from www.brothersupport.com for the
above products. This new Flash ROM will adjust the sensitivity level of the Toner Sensor to correct this
phenomenon. To install the Flash ROM follow the instructions below:

Setup

(1) Make sure that the equipment's power cord is unplugged from a wall socket.
(2) Make sure that your computer is powered off.
(3) Connect the IEEE 1284 parallel cable to the parallel interface port on the back of the facsimile.
(4) Connect the other end of the IEEE 1284 parallel cable to the printer port of your computer.
(5) Power on your computer.
(6) Plug the equipment's power cord into a wall socket.

DCP 1200 Flash ROM Installation Instructions

(1) Download the file 1200_usa.t_f to the root directory of your hard drive.
(2) In Windows 95 click the Start button, point to Programs, and then click MS-DOS Prompt to open an
MS-DOS window, from DOS and Windows 3.1/3.11 go directly to the MS-DOS prompt.
(3) Type the drive letter where the update data is located.
(4) Type the following command at the DOS prompt and press ENTER:

C:\ COPY 1200_usa.t_f LPT1/b

(5) As the Flash ROM is being copied the equipment will beep intermittently.
(6) Upon completion of the download the unit will beep and display date and time.
