HI Stephen,

I strongly agree with your point on decentralizing responsibilities and decision making. From your
banking software migration example, I got the sense that although you were not familiar with the
functionality of new software program, by recognizing one's potentials and the trust one build through
years of professional experience, a successful program/project manager can de-centralize entire
program/project into small tasks and assigned each task to its corresponding members most suitable in
that area of expertise.

In my years of working in massive data migration projects, especially cross platform data migrations, I
find that ability of trusting one's self instinct most em powering and rewarding. There was one incident I
was working on data migration project for a small manufacturing firm where they needed to migrate 30-
years of JD Edwards accounting data to an Enterprise Resource Planning program in Microsoft Dynamic
AX. Think of a leap of faith from Hyundai Elantra to Cadillac XTS. The overall migration was a uni-lateral
effort from infrastructure, development and support, external Dynamic AX consultants and project
mangers and completed in a total of 18 months. During small 18 months time many decisions and
functionalities were broken down to small tasks and assigned to individual task expertise.
