Alexanna Sutton Criminal Investigation Sep.

My dream job is to be a Criminal Investigator. These are those people who are

typically the first ones called to the scene of the crime to start processing evidence,

establishing a restricted perimeter and isolating the crime scene to avoid incidence such as

tampering with potential evidence. A majority of the positions of a criminal investigator

require a person to have a 4 year science degree, but there are a new positions that are

available with just a high school diploma. Obtaining a college degree is highly suggested

because it increases your chances of getting hired.

Most colleges and universities offer science degrees that focus on crime scene

investigation as well as forensics programs are excellent for someone that is seeking a

career as a criminal investigator, as am I. Right now, I am in Criminal Law and Procedure,

as well as Juvenile Delinquency. At first, I was worried that taking Juvenile Delinquency

class would be teaching me things that are not directly towards my topic of interest but

already with the few classes Ive had, I take everything as knowledge as an upper hand

over my co workers in the future if I chose to stay on the route of Criminal Investigation.

That being said, I will need to obtain a formal education in forensic science, earning a

bachelors degree in criminal justice is again highly recommended, but if I was only to get

my associates degree there would be positions with that as well.

As a Criminal Investigator, my mean hourly pay would be $39.18, making my

annually yearly salary out to be about $81,494.40. As much as that sounds amazing, I

understand that until I get myself to a comfortable place in life, that money will be put

towards paying back student loans, car payments, my mortgage and all that fun stuff. Like

my father has always told me though, theres a difference between balancing work and

fun equally rather than having strictly one and not the other. My future goal when

dealing with my money is to set aside a vacation account that I shall put aside money into

little by little. That way over time I will be able splurge into being able to treat myself

without having to worry if I have enough money in order to do so.

1. It all depends on what age I am turning I guess, but I would be willing to spend at

least $5-7 thousand on a party.

2. Again this all depends on what car I end up with, right now I am not too sure so I

dont know what my monthly car payment would end up being
