REFLECTION

On 25th August 2014, all students PISMP TESL JAN 2013 had started the
microteaching of the Teaching for Grammar subject. We need to be in group of three to
prepare the activity for the students of primary school. My group consists of Hakim, Nik and I
have do the activity to teach the preposition to the year three students. We used the method
of communicative language teaching which is using games in classroom. The first part activity
was handled by Hakim. He pasted the picture of stall on the board and give the student the
pictures of fruits to the students to be paste on the picture of the stall according to its
arrangement. After finished, Hakim discussed the answer with the students.

After that, the second part was handled by Nik. He continued the teaching progress by
giving the students the task sheet. The students need to fill in the blanks with the correct
answers. This activity is to know the students whether they understand what is being taught
in the first part or not. Nik discussed the answers with the students after they have finished
the task sheet. Meanwhile, the last part was handled by me. For my part, I gave the students
the picture of fruits. Then, they must build three sentences using the prepositions that they
have learnt earlier. After they are finished doing their sentences, I told them to read their
answers loudly. This skill will build their level of confidence to speak in front of the class. Then,
I conclude all the activities and asked the students whether they understand or not.

Our lecturer comment our activity was fairly systematic. All activity was well organized.
Besides that, it is also learner centred. This is very good because we want the students to
take part or involve in the learning process. This will give the students more understanding in
certain subject. Moreover, our lecturer commented that our prepositions are presented in
context by means of a picture. For us, the picture will give a memory that will stay in students
mind longer than wordy. Although our activity was good enough to teach, we still lack in
confidence to teach in front. We still weak in our languages. I hope I can fix my problem on
that soon.
