2.3. When and where the invention was first described in writing?
May ________, 2017
3. Description of Invention
Please include a description of the invention, writing as much as needed and continuing
on as many pages as necessary. Please also attach relevant drawings, chemical
structures and data.
3.1. What is the purpose of the invention? (what is the use or purpose of your device or
apparatus or process)
The focus of the project is to open a new path to a study connecting electronics in
assessing active range of motion. This innovation from the former goniometer is deeply
related to the accuracy of angle measurement provided by the tool. It means that the project
aims to provide an accurate angle measurement device with a recording database in order
for the practitioners to freely monitor, and accurately view and assess the patients
condition.
For the patient, the measurements done by the sessions will conclude his or her
therapeutic protocol. Therefore, accuracy is deeply need for them to receive the proper
treatment and results regarding their condition. This will also give the patients the
information he needed regarding their protocol: angle increased and the recovery time
needed. However, take note that the tool invented will be used as an evaluation tool, not for
rehabilitation, but will help to properly determine the patients improvement.
For the physical therapists, they are the intended clients of the said device. The
practitioners will be able to assess the condition of the patient, and therefore they will be
able to give the proper protocol for the patients fast recovery. By the accurate
measurement, the therapist will be capable of assessing and evaluating the patients
condition. The database provided will also be helpful for easy access and viewing of the
results of the patient for faster monitoring. The therapist will also be able to see the
improvement of the patient right in front of him, because the database will display the
mean angle and the forecasted time recovery of the patient. Patient also includes normal
people with tightness. However, this will not be the core basis of the patients results, but
For example, a patient is already on the post-surgery stage of the recovery process.
The physical therapist may design a protocol for the patient that may need constant
personal consultation. This is usually done during the first two weeks of the recovery
process. Since the patient is injured, it is the most practical decision for a patient to
continuously travel for assessment. Hence, a home-based device can be very useful for the
patient in monitoring his current angle progress, provided that the patient installs the
software of the brace and also, to see the forecast, in which can also be saved in a memory
card for further recording and assessing of the physical therapist during next consultations.
Since the device will be home-based, the patient will not feel pressured and have
more willingness to subject oneself to therapy, follow designed protocol and record all
pertinent data. Moreover, such therapy can be done at patients most convenient time and
have more chances of being followed. Relationship between patient and therapist will not be
strained which can lead to a better and faster recovery.
3.3. In order to identify the novel elements of your invention, please cite your nearest
patent and/ or non patent prior art. What are the key novel elements of the
invention? A comparative table stating the following would be highly appreciated in
your disclosure. Feel free to expand the table. (For the example below, nearest prior
