The heat analysis (formerly ladle analysis) made by the manufacturer to determine the percentages of the elements requrred
under this specification shall be reported to the purchaser or his representative In a certificate of test when specified on
purchase order or otherwise.
A product analysis (formerly check analysis) may be made by the purchaser from a sample representing each melt. The
chemical composition thus determined shall conform to the requirements of this specification within the AISI standard
permissible variation for product analysis except for B4A2F and F3. B4A2F and F3 are not subject to rejection for product
analysis unless misapplication is clearly indicated.

(1) Unless otherwise specified, the following residual elements shall be reported for all special (B4A2A, A2, A3, and
A5), standard (B4A2C, C2, C3, C4, C6, C7, and E) and restrictive quality (B4A2C5 and H2) designations.

Based on material performance history, knowledge of production and supply sources, plus control of the material’s
application, some organizations including Turbine Business, Naval and Drive Turbine Systems, Fitchburg, as
designated, allow material to be supplied and accepted without the reporting of the residual elements specified.
(2) GE Material B4A2C5 shall have silicon content of 0.15 to 0.30%.
