Conclusion

According to the accuracy of apparatus, we can conclude that the micrometer screw gauge
has the higher rate of accuracy compared to the vernier calliper as it has more sensitive scale that
enable the measurement taken were as accurate as possible. In this experiment, the micrometer
screw gauge and the vernier calliper were used to determined the density of iron and the density of
glass which are and approximately. The objective of the experiment is achieved.

Question

1) The density of an object is defined as the ratio of its mass to its volume. For this experiment,
the density of the glass block obtained was slightly different compared to the given density
of a kind of glass. This may because of the uncertainty of the apparatus used that sometimes
give different value other than the true value resulting in a slightly difference in the value
obtained. A systematic error that is caused by a defect in the analytical method or by
an improperly functioning instrument or analyst may also be occurred. A procedure
that suffers from a systematic error is always going to give a mean value that is
different from the true value.
2) Precision is getting the reading repeatedly at the same time while having small
different amount between the results. Precision usually refers to the closeness of
two or more measurements to each other by getting the result repeatedly at one
point without scattered too widely between each reading while accuracy is referred
to closeness of measured value to the right and standard known value. It refers to
the repeated value that near the exact result or true value. Accuracy can be known
by average calculation and precision can be identified by standard deviation.
