6. Evaluate 105 106 without multiplying directly.
7. Express the following linear equations in the form ax + by + c = 0 and indicate the values of a, b and c in
each case: (i) 2x = 5y (ii) 3x + 2 = 0
8. Find the value of k, if x = 2, y = 1 is a solution of the equation 2x + 3y = k.
9. Write herons formula.
10. A coin is tossed 1000 times with the following frequencies: Head : 455, Tail : 545. Compute the
probability for each event.
Section-B
11. Divide p(x) by g(x), where p(x) = x + 3x2 1 and g(x) = 1 + x.
12. Find the remainder obtained on dividing p(x) = x3 + 1 by x + 1.
13. : Factorise 4x2 + y2 + z2 4xy 2yz + 4xz.
14. Write four solutions for each of the following equations: (i) 2x + y = 7 (ii) x + y = 9.
15. The taxi fare in a city is as follows: For the first kilometre, the fare is Rs 8 and for the subsequent
distance it is Rs 5 per km. Taking the distance covered as x km and total fare as Rs y, write a linear equation
for this information, and draw its graph.
16. In Fig. , lines PQ and RS intersect each other at point O. If POR : ROQ = 5 : 7, find all the angles.
17. In Fig. , lines XY and MN intersect at O. If POY = 90 and a : b = 2 : 3, find c.
18. . In Fig. , POQ is a line. Ray OR is perpendicular to line PQ. OS is another ray lying between rays OP
and OR. Prove that ROS = 1 2 ( QOS POS).
19. In Fig. , if PQ || ST, PQR = 110 and RST = 130, find QRS.
20. In Fig. , the side QR of PQR is produced to a point S. If the bisectors of PQR and PRS meet at
point T, then prove that QTR = 1 2 QPR.
21. Line l is the bisector of an angle A and B is any point on l. BP and BQ are perpendiculars from B to
the arms of A (see Fig. ). Show that: (i) APB AQB (ii) BP = BQ or B is equidistant from the arms
of A.
Represent the data of both the teams on the same graph by frequency polygons.
29. Two coins are tossed simultaneously 500 times, and we get
Two heads : 105 times, One head : 275 times, No head : 120 times.
Find the probability of occurrence of each of these events.
30. In a cricket match, a batswoman hits a boundary 6 times out of 30 balls she plays. Find the probability
that she did not hit a boundary.
