17th of March The foreign ministers of the EU countries agreed to impose
2014 sanctions against Russian and Ukrainian officials, whom they

Sevastopol Alexei Chaly, Head of thethe Crimean Security
Service Peter Zima and former commander of the Naval Forces
of Ukraine rear Admiral Denis Berezovsky. There are 21 people
on the list.
17th of March The government of Canada imposed economic sanctions and
2014 visa restrictions on 10 high-ranking representatives of Russia
and the Crimea.
The list includes Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin,
Prime Minister of the Crimea Sergei Aksyonov, presidential aide
Sergei Glazyev, presidential advisor Vladislav Surkov,
Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko and Senator
Andrei Klishas, as well as deputies Yelena Mizulina and Leonid
Slutsky and Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of
Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov.

2014 individual EU sanctions adopted on March 17 and expanded on
21 March.
12 th of April Canada imposed sanctions on the head of the election
2014 commission of Sevastopol Valery Medvedev and his colleagues
from the election commission of the Crimea, Mikhail Malyshev,
as well as the oil and gas company Chernomorneftegaz.
17th of April The European Parliament adopted a resolution
2014 recommendation, in which it called for the abandonment of the
construction of the South Stream gas pipeline.
28th of April The US authorities again expanded the sanctions list, included seven more citizens of the Russian Federation and 17

4th of May The Prime Minister of Canada stated that sanctions are imposed
2014 against 16 Russian entities and apply to the following Russian
banks and legal entities: InvestCapitalBank, Sobinbank, the
Northern Sea Route Bank, Aquanika, Avia Group, Avia Group
Nord, ZEST, Sakhatrans, Stroygazmontazh, Abros Investment
Company, Volga Group, Stroytransgaz Holding and its four
subsidiaries.
6th of May The Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering refused to hold a planned plenary meeting in Moscow, despite

12th of May The EU Foreign Affairs Council has added another 13 people to

19th of June Australia imposed financial sanctions against 50 Russians and

21st of June Canada imposed additional economic sanctions and a ban on

12th of July The EU expanded its sanctions list for 11 people.

16st of July Washington synchronized its sanctions list with the
2014 European one. The United States imposed visa
and financial restrictions on the vice-speaker of the
Russian State Duma Sergei Neverov, the federal
minister for Crimean affairs Oleg Saveliev, as well
as the premier of the self-proclaimed Donetsk
republic Alexander Boroday, previously sued by
EU sanctions. In addition, US sanctions extended
to the Donetsk and Lugansk republics entirely and
to the Russian presidential aide Igor Schegolev.
The US authorities also imposed sanctions against
a number of Russian defense and raw materials
companies. The Almaz-Antey concern, the
Uralvagonzavod, the NPO Mashinostroeniya and
several Rostekh structures: the Kalashnikov
concern (formerly Izhmash), Sozvezdie,
Radioelectronic Technologies (KRET), Basalt and
Design Bureau of Instrument Engineering.
Under the sanctions were the largest Russian oil
company Rosneft and Russia's largest
independent producer of gas Novatek, the oil
terminal of Feodosia, as well as the Russian
development bank Vnesheconombank and one of
the country's largest commercial banks

29th of July The US Finance Ministry announced the imposition of sanctions against the Bank of Moscow, VTB and
2014 Rosselkhozbank, as well as the United Shipbuilding Corporation of Russia.
30th of July The EU imposed sanctions against 8 people, as well as against
2014 the Russian National Commercial Bank, the Almaz-Antei Air
Defense Concern and Dobrolyt Airline. Sanctions on the spheres
of trade and investment against the Crimea and Sevastopol also
were imposed:
A ban on investment in infrastructure, transport,
telecommunications and energy sectors, as well as oil, gas and
minerals extraction has been established. It is forbidden to
supply equipment for these sectors, as well as provide financial
and insurance services for them.
A ban on the purchase of more than 250 items of goods, among
which are minerals and hydrocarbons, has been established.
European financial institutions are prohibited from lending or
acquiring shares in projects that are affected by sectoral
sanctions.
