AMDA APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS/DOCUMENTS


(everything needed for application to be reviewed for admissions decision)
decision available 2-4 weeks from the time complete application is received by AMDA

** NOTE: In order to move forward to review (send COS to records) , we only


need 2 out of 3 requirements High School Transcript AND 1 letter of
recommendation or 1 essay.

U.S. CITIZENS STANDARD APPLICATION

1. Audition Adjudicator Accept/Not Accept

2. One letter of recommendation (Or AMDA Recommendation Form)

3. One essay, 500 words minimum (Describe a challenging experience in your life and what you learned
from it)

Question is provided on application


Open application in School Docs to check for essays

4. Official High School Transcripts

Official College transcripts if applicable (if transferring credits)

5. $50 application fee

AMDA will waive fee if student qualifies for free/reduced lunch


AMDA also accepts fee waivers
If student is a Scholarship Accept/Outreach Scholarship Winner, app fee is waived

U.S. Citizens VIP APPLICATION


Royall Junior Campaign/Royall Senior Search/College Board/Royall VIP
o List of names and contact information that AMDA buys that includes all
students who checked off the arts as an education interest when taking their
SATs/ACTs, compiled by College Board, sorted through by Call Center because
arts category includes performing in addition to culinary, fine arts,
photography, etc.
o These students automatically receive a $1,000 scholarship
o Application fee is WAIVED

No specific topic or length requirement, a small paragraph is sufficient

4. Official high school transcripts translated (if needed) and EVALUATED

get a GPA on 4.0 scale

For more information about obtaining your evaluated transcripts, please see the links below. Your high
school transcript must be evaluated by an accredited company to determine what the U.S. equivalence of
your high school studies is and what your GPA is on the US 4.0 grading scale. AMDA's international
students often use SpanTran (www.spantran.com) or ECE (www.ece.org) to obtain their evaluated
transcripts. The type of evaluation needed is a general evaluation WITH GPA. A course-by-course
evaluation is not necessary.
Also important to note: we need an evaluation of your HIGH SCHOOL transcript. An evaluation of your
college transcript is only necessary if you plan on pursuing the BFA program at AMDA and transferring
credits.

5. $50 application fee

For scholarship winners or scholarship accepts, this fee is waived

6. English language proficiency can be demonstrated in different ways, must complete one of the
following

TOEFL exam (BFA: 79, Conservatory: 61), or IELTS, a Cambridge University exam,
(minimum 6.5 overall score) ONLY THESE TWO EXAMS ACCEPTED
