towards an Islamic identity in the Philippine islands, in order to have a synopsis
that can reconcile Philippine Islam within the history of Islamic civilization

ABOUT THE EDITOR Isaac Donoso Jimnez is a professor at the Philippine
Normal University. He has credits in Arab Philology (2001), Hispanic Philology Edited
(2003), and Humanities (2003) from the University of Alicante in Spain, and a Master by INSIGHTS INTO PHILIPPINE CULTURAL HISTORY
of Arts degree in Islamic Studies (2008) from the University of the Philippines. In
2004 and 2008, he won the Ibn al-Abbar Research Award for the project Romanos Isaac
Filipins del Regne de Valncia, a study and translation of Philippine romances about Donoso
the kingdom of Valencia. He edited theanthology More Hispanic than We Admit:
Insights into Philippine Cultural History (2008) and Jess Balmoris novel Los
pjaros de fuego (2010). At present, he is the Spanish editor of the online digital Edited by Isaac Donoso
library Filipiniana.net, and is finishing his doctorate degree at the University of
Alicante with a thesis on the Islamization of the Philippine archipelago.
