NETWORK THEORY (L A S)
( Regular,/Improvement/Supplementary)
'l'irne : 'l'hree Hours Maximum : 100 Marks
Part A
Ansu,er all qttestions briefly.
INaclt question curries 4 marhs.
1. l)el-rne and distinguish beween :

(i) mosh and nodc. (ii) mesh and supcr mesh.

2. Two similar coupled coils of rcsistance 5Q and self inductance 1H arc in series. This is in selies
with a 100pt!' capacitor, A 200V, 50Hz source energizes the circuit. Draw the circuit, place thc dot
markings and calculate the coupling coeffrceint so that the circuit behavcs like a pure resistor.
3. Dr:line and cxplain thc terms : oriented graph, incidence and reduced incidence matrices, basic
cul-sel and tic-scl matrices.
4. State and oxplain Norton's theorem with a general example. How would you obtain thc Thevcnin's
equivalent from thc Norton's equivalent circuit ? Illustrate.
5. Statc and provc initial value theorcm when the excitation is continuous.
6. Obtain Laplacc 'Iransform of a ramp function ?
7. l)cfinc thc driving point irnpedance and admittance ofa two-port network.
8. [)cfine ciraractcristic irnpedance. Explain its practical significancc.
9. Writc thc propcrtics of Hurrvitz polynornial ?

10. Comparc thc propcrties of foster and causer forms ofnctworks.
