A 19-year-old was shot and killed on the street in Union New Jersey on Sunday

according to township police. The man was identified as Jose Yampier Diago of Elizabeth. The

police are investigating the shooting on Trotting Road, a residential street in Union and have not

yet confirmed a motive. Diagos uncle, Candido Morales- Diaz said that his nephew loved to

play basketball and he was great at it. Diaz said that Diago may have started hanging out with the

wrong crowd and he doesnt know what his nephew got into. Later Monday morning Union

Township officials said that two arrests were made in connection with the shooting, a 17-year-

old from Union was charged with murder and 22-year-old Willy Rodriguez-Gil also from Union

was charged with robbery.

I adapted and re-wrote this story for the college audience due to the location of the event.

The college is in Union NJ and Elizabeth is right down the road. The victim was also of high

school senior or college freshmen age. Due to this I felt it would be an adaptable story for the

college audience.
