Reason for developing The way my placement is structured is that I meet with a group

Ontario Curriculum conducting circle time. I read a story and then run a craft that
Objective, etc. is based on the book read. This week in placement the craft is
to make a flower and so I found a book called The Little Seed

teaching strategies. How
will you use them? Why
have you chosen these
strategies?
Describe the Experience:

I will be directly involved in the activity and the supervisor will

be nearby to offer assistance as needed.

The experience will take place in the Toronto Public Library in

the childrens centre.

The material needed will be the book itself, the supervisor will
be leading and providing the materials for the craft portion.

After opening circle, I will read the book to the children and
parents. After which the supervisor will explain the craft and
allow the parents to assist the children with it.

The first teaching strategy I will use is Invitations, I will

implement this by getting the children engaged in the book
and interested in order to pay attention. I plan to get the
children interested in the book by elaborating on the pages
that the children find of particular interest, whether this is due
to the illustrations or if they have a question about the book.
The second teaching strategy is Telling, Explaining and
Informing, I believe this strategy applies as the names and
information in the book will be told directly to the children.
