Answer: turbo generator turbine and reduction unit the turbine is modelled
reastically with torque depent on steam flow inlet steam pressure and
temperatue and condensor vacumm the control valve is controlled by a spped
governor. The speed set point can be remotely valve is full opened this to start
and stop the we should be use the manually operated control valve. Before
starting the turbo generator vacumm must be esthalised and the condensor
containe ddrained empty by starting vacumm pump and the main condensate
pump respectally voly, eho the shutdown gradual collection of the water inlet
steam line and turbine cassing is probebly before starting cold the main steam
line and turbine casing should be drained of water.
To start the turbine we should manually open the control valve slowly and let
turbine we should run at a few hundred rpm format 1 minute if the turbine
could.
This is reduce terminal tension during starting up if the turbine rpm is the
rassed to fast. High vibration will allow accour and th =e turbine will trip
when the tubinr speed is raised to 6,4 rpm by opening the controll valve
completly the governor will take control as the speed appraches its sat point.

b. What happens inside the fuel injections pumps are the governor reacts to
the increase in load?
Answer: Inside fuel injection pump will decrease amount fuel oil because
the governor cut off additional fuel needed for acceleration by stoping the

13) Describe how a diesel engine cylinder liner wears during normal engine
operation howis the wear measured?
Answer: the cylinder liner is made of close grained, pearu be ast iron and is at
the tep provide with a collar resting on top of the frame al bottom the liner
has a guide with grove for two sealing ring which provide iontress againt the
frame the cylinder liner wear measured until 24.00 hours after must be
overhoul exchanged
The internal gas pressure with the cylinder liner causes a tensile stress refred
to as hoop tensile stress, the cooling water pressure on the outside of the liner
caused by hoop compressure stress which however is so small that it has no
anapprecable effect when the engine is in operation the mean temperature on
the inside surface (gas side) of the liner is much higher than the outside
(cooling water side)it is procedure a temperature across the thicness of the
lines is different being hoter on the gas side the hitter on te side and cooler on
the water side the hotter inside part of liner troes to expand more than the
outlet part in contact with the cooling water this temperature diffenet and
expansion restriction causes a thermal stress. The thermal stress reduce the
hoop stress (from gas pressure) on the inside of the liner (gas side) and
increase it an the outside (cooling water side) at the uppart of cylinder liner in
the region of the flange bending moment are set up when the cylinder 1 s
changing so the material of the cylinder liner is subject to cycle stress patren
care has herefore to be taken in the design of the liner to cobat failune due to

the control or control signal acqulistion units/SAU
1. astand alone alarm and monotoring system
2. signal acquistion unit (sau) one of sevral
3. a back up alarm and monitoring system
4. a general purpose input/output heateface
5. limit conditions are alarmad and acknowledged
1.sacrificial anode
Catchodic protection can be accomplished by the intentional used of metal
which will suffer galvanic corrosion, when zinc for example is electrically
connected to steel the zinc, having a higher potential will act as anode and
emil current which passes into the steel. The steel will be catchodically
protected and the zinc will corrode sactrificing it self for the protection if the
steel

controlled by the telegraph handle on the brigde. The regulations handle in
engine room how ever limits the speed
2. control room

13) Consider the steering gear to be operating in the hand steering mode. Use a
one-line logic diagram to show in the helm signal for desiredrudder position is
compared to the position of the rudder and how rudder is actually moved to
the desired position. Describe the path of the signals in your diagram in a short
discussion. ( in other words, you should diagram the process that puts the
hydraulic pump on stroke to move the rudder in the desired direction and
the process that takes the hydraulic pump off stroke to stop the rudderat the
desired angle).
For the logic diagram. Use box the system components (helm. Hydraulic
pump. Etc. ) and lines to designate signals. Label all components and signals.
Be sure to indicate what type of medium is transporting the signal ( electric
current. Hydraulic fluid, mechanical linkage. Etc.)

metal surface is called cavitation the demage that result from coil apse of
these vacuum bubbles on the metal surface is called caruitation corrosion
when this collepse acurs on metal surface there is a servese impact or
