The creation of telephones

Today in the 21st century telephones are one of the most used forms of
communication. Digital technology is very fast growing as everyone from this
generation is either using a telephone, ipad, tablet, video camera, digital camera,
laptop or computer.

The science museum has opened a new information age gallery which allows
people to enjoy and understand the history of computer age, digital age and new
media age and appreciate how these telephones have been created and the process
the founders went through to create such a useful source.

During the1950s telephones became a typical source of communication. Different

countries started to manufacture telephones and gave them their own individual
style, such as different colours, shapes and sizes. As several people seemed to use
them, Britain decided to install 50,000 public call offices as they usually had very
long queues.

In the 50s a vast majority of the public enjoyed using these phones as they felt they
were more discreet and gave them more privacy, rather then a usual domestic
phone. This was all up to the founder of telephones, Alexander Graham Bell as he
was fascinated by the way our speech and sounds transmit, this is when he applied
his awareness of audio to tests with telecommunication instruments, which led to him
formulating a practical telephone in March 1976.

On the 24th of October Her majesty the Queen, had opened the new information
age gallery and posted her first tweet about it, which attracted a numerous amount
of peoples attention, which then led to them visiting the museum. The exhibition
successfully demonstrates how telephones were used by people and the inventors of
telephones.

Will 24 hour trains increase crimes rates in London?

From Saturday 12th of September 2015 London Jubilee, Piccadilly, Northern, Victoria
and Central lines will be working for 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays.

TFL are restructuring their employment structure. Due to contactless payments ticket
officers will no longer be present at stations; alternatively there will be 250 new jobs
available at night.
A fellow ticket officer at Holborn station, who wishes to remain as anonymous, has
said I have a family of my own and have to work over night, I know it will be busy
with drunken people shouting and fighting. I will not be spending time with my new
born baby as much.
A TFL spokesperson has explained that TFL have received a unanimous amount of
feedback from business communities, agreeing to 24 hour trains. This will allow
longer opening hours for cafes, bars, museums, restaurants and clubs. In London
during October 2014 there were 60,412 crimes that took place. As Friday night kids,
students and adults relax and chose to enjoy a night out, which then leads to several
crimes such as: drink driving, assault, rape, shop-lifting, theft, prostitution, vandalism,
stalking, murder, harassment and so on.
Even though there may be an increase in crime rates, there are also some benefits,
for instance: reducing the demands for illegal mini-cab drivers, reduction of
congestion and taking away the heat from night bus networks.
Yes its been said that 24 hour trains may amplify crime rates however, as police
officers do their job during the day, they are also alert during the night. TFL also deal
with incidents as they occur and have declared there are 16 cameras on each
carriage. Although if its a serious incident that cannot be addressed through
transport then police will need contacting.

Comedian Russell Brand will not back down from his argument
with UKIP leader Nigel Farage
On Thursday December 11th 2014 during question time on BBC, Nigel Farage made
a bold statement about how England need proper immigration by controlling the
numbers that come and the type of people that come clearly suggesting that he
doesnt want immigrants to enter the country and refers to them a type which is
dehumanising towards immigrants.

This is when Brand collided with Farage as he disagreed with his statement, and
explained his argument, by describing how Fargages mates in the city farted and
Nigel Farage is pointing at immigrants and the disabled and holding his nose
inferring that Farages close ones are too blame although, he will always blame
immigrants and disabled people for over crowdedness and economic struggles.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04v85qt/question-time-11122014

After Brands brave response Farage was left puzzled yet he tried to fight his corner,
by explaining to Brand that this is question time, and how he isnt answering the
questions asked by the audience. Farage repeated the question to Brand is Britain
overcrowded?

Brand decided to answer this question with a different approach by using statics to
back up his point. He underlined how he believes theres plenty of money out there;
its just not being distributed well. Implying that immigrants arent causing monetary
problems and suffering. However in actual fact its the governments responsibility to
spread out money appropriately.

It was clear that the two men had differences in opinion; Nigel thought the best way
to get rid of the over crowdedness is by banning immigration, as he has suggested
previously. Alternatively Brand had a complete different view and believes the real
reason why we have a lack of public resources, is mainly because political systems
are not allocating money out reasonably.

Robert Peston has some advice for Middlesex University students

BBC economics editor Robert Peston visited Middlesex University (Hendon campus)
on the 1st of December 2014.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOGbsrJgv9E

Peston gave the audience useful advice and tips on how to become successful
journalists. He emphasised how there are no shortcuts in journalism. Inferring that
you need to build your own way up, to gain a respectable position and work for an
area where you are distinctive; in how you interpret and analyse things. Peston
described how journalism is detective work signifying that you have to observe
deeply in order to find clues, which will eventually lead to the whole story that you
can write up as news.

Unfortunately Peston disappointed several young students ambitions when he said

dont go into journalism thinking youre gonna get rich, cos you aint. Many of the
students were devastated by his statement, as they were looking forward to a
luxurious lifestyle however Peston shattered a lot of their dreams.

After realising he made a rather bold statement, Peston listed the advantages of
studying journalism for instance: meeting amazing people, learning several things,
travelling, and the wide variety of work opportunities.

When Peston was asked a question about immigration, he decided to start in a

positive light and tried not to put forward his opinion by saying immigration is good
for economy. He then began to list the issues that immigration causes for example:
crowded hospitals, lack of schools, no pay rises or jobs. Peston finally expands on
how this has lead to a growth on more people supporting UKIP, as a lot of people
consider their issues arent being heard. This evidently highlights the fact that Peston
believes UKIP is correct in a way, as they are taking into consideration the problems
immigration is causing towards the society.
