Radio News Reader Story Script:

Mother Nature is as relentless as ever. From constant hurricanes, to erratic weather,

California is under a state of distress over the wildfires that have spread over seventeen-thousand
acres of land and with nearly thirty-five-thousand structures burned. The fires burning in
California are centered near San Francisco, between Redding and Sacramento, as well as
Bakersfield and Los Angeles. It has been reported that 31 are dead but hopefully will not exceed
that amount.

This is Jennyfer Macoto for WKNJ-FM News Cougar Radio.

Short Description

News is very factual, that much is self-evident, however, most of it can be humanized.
Regarding the information about the California wildfires, the facts are absolutely pivotal. It
cannot be sugarcoated, but what can be done is to provide imagery of some kind, such as
including the idea of mentioning Mother Nature. With the death toll, there can be some
empathy involved, but not overwhelmingly so that it makes the audience bemused in response.
