It is performed by fully exhaling, emptying the air out of the body and
then holding the breath out. It is completed by drawing the organs up
into the rib cage dome and

then expanding them back down consciously, repeating this up and
down movement
a few times before inhaling. This creates a force, a strong vacuum
suction, in the abdomen.
Hence the abdominal vacuum can draw air directly into the abdominal
digestive
tract to oxygenate the blood, thereby enhancing the level of overall
body
functioning. (1999, 132)
