Key purpose of this role (and team)

AGLs Digital and IT Transformation is underway. We are making a significant investment in the sustainable
energy future for Australia, enabled through World Class, Innovative IT infrastructure, tools and processes.
We currently have an opening within our Chief Technology Office for a Data & Decisions Platform Manager. This
exciting and influential new role will be responsible for building an ecosystem of data, insights and decision
orchestration that connect teams across the organisation to our customers, in support of AGLs strategic
deliverable: harness insights to enrich the customers experience.

Key accountabilities of this position

You will be:

Developing a product internally within AGL that enable our staff to create actionable insights and orchestrate
personalised engagement with our customers
Growing a pool of developers that can help projects deliver utilising the platform capabilities, as well as
extending the core platform
Promoting a culture of diversity, inclusion and technical expertise including career pathways from graduates to
experts.
Liaising with business partners to drive capital projects building on and extending the capabilities of the
platforms
Sourcing capital, managing budgets and managing operational expenses of the platform
Responsible for the product management of the technology platforms
Working with Service Delivery teams to keep the platform operational and available
Responsible for the quality of the delivery and the effectiveness of the platforms
Maintaining the roadmap for the platform capabilities in conjunction with the Enterprise Architecture team
Working with the business teams to develop an effective analytics process and lifecycle
This role will require close collaboration with peers within the business and being the technology advisor regarding
data, analytics and decisioning. Your team will create services for those groups providing the ability to: access
data; develop models & insights; create management reporting; implement pattern and event recognition;
implement holistic customer and operational next best action decision systems.
You will also be responsible for building a Diverse and Inclusive team that is passionate about how insights can
help our customers. This team will grow significantly as the company evolves and relies even more on high quality
insights from a multitude of data sources.
Your team will build and manage platforms for data, analytics and decision making across the organisation. These
platforms are composed of technology systems (including the data, transformations, processes, models and rules),

IT processes and practices, solution architecture and engineering consulting services. They will also service a
broad spectrum of internal stakeholders including Management, Analytics, Load Forecasting, Credit Analytics,
Trading, Operations, Innovation and Marketing.
Data and insights are used in the organisation for multiple purposes, including:

Insights for safety and predictive maintenance for energy generation


Data driven experimentation for customer engagement
Personalisation and automated next best action
Predictive modelling for load forecasting and energy trading
Supply chain optimisation
Analysis of solar and battery system performance
Significant event forecasting
Software development continuous improvement and modelling

Key skills, experience and qualifications required


Passionate about driving exceptional customer experience and using data & analytics to personalise marketing
and service strategies.
Experience managing technical teams
Background in statistics or mathematics or a strong data intuition
Familiarity with data modelling and visualization techniques
Experience in information management projects and programs
Familiarity with data processing systems and big data platforms
Familiarity with data governance and quality control
Experience of different data management patterns such as batch, delta, event driven, pattern recognition
Tertiary qualifications in marketing, e-commerce, computer science or extensive industry experience
Industry experience with dynamic case management, customer engagement platforms, process automation, or
customer data hubs
Preferably experience with unified marketing (multi-channel inbound & outbound)
Experience with the challenges of creating a single view of customer
Understanding the potential benefits and challenges with cloud based data management / processing
Experience delivering data, analytics or decisioning platforms across an organisation
Understanding the reputational, financial and legal implications of sharing data internally and externally
Managing data warehouses, data schemas, and getting agreement across diverse business units
Understanding of and experience building business cases for large projects
Financial acumen with regards to people and technology platform management, preferably with cloud cost
management experience.
Proven people leader, with experience in building and leading a team through a period of significant change
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to communicate up to CIO level.
Team oriented, self-starter with a can-do attitude and the ability to work flexibly as part of a dynamic and fast-
paced organisation.
