Midi-System Maintenance
IBAK Sewer TV Systems must be put into service and operated by trained and
competent personnel only. Servicing and maintenance must be carried out by
suitably qualified technicians only. The purchaser (user) is given a training
course when the system is handed over in the IBAK factory. Read all volumes
of the instruction manual carefully before you put the equipment into operation
for the first time.
All information and technical data given apply to the standard system. Depen-
ding on the system configuration with accessories or special models, the data
of individual system components or subassemblies can deviate from these
indications.
The techn. documentation must be kept with the equipment for future reference.
Additional copies are available from IBAK for your office or workshop files.
II Issue 3
Maintenance Midi System
1. Maintenance
Qualified personnel: Servicing and maintenance of IBAK sewer TV systems must be carried out by
suitably trained personnel only.
Personal safety kit: Always use the recommended personal safety kit when doing any work with the
equipment.
In particular when you clean the equipment, protection gloves, safety shoes and
protective goggles must be worn. There is a risk of infection from germs.
Switch off power supply: De-energize the system and make sure it cannot be switched on accidentally
before you open or service any system components.
Spare parts: For servicing and maintenance work, always use genuine IBAK spare parts or
standard parts as indicated in the manuals.
Warranty: Carry out servicing and maintenance work carefully and at the given intervals.
Equipment which is not properly serviced is excluded from warranty cover.
Safety checks and Periodical tests: For your own safety, carry out the listed weekly safety checks and the periodical
tests in compliance with BGV A2 or BGV D8 resp. at the prescribed intervals.
All fixing parts (steel ropes, hooking devices etc.) which are relevant to safety
must be checked regularly for damage and replaced as necessary.
IBAK Service for EEx equipment: Repairs to the EEx equipment may be carried out by the IBAK service
department only.
According to ElexV 9, components of electrical equipment which have an
essential effect on the explosion protection must not be put into operation again
until an authorized inspector has examined them and certified that they comply
with the requirements of ElexV as far as the essential characteristics of explosi-
on-protection are concerned.

Midi System Maintenance
For all maintenance and repair work, completely de-energize the system
and all ancillary equipment.
A leak test must be carried out after each servicing or repair of the camera
systems and the accessories .
Sand and solid deposits between the moving parts of a camera system lead to
abrasion and cause damage to the bearings. The constant presence of moisture
in slits and O-Ring grooves leads to corrosion at the slits and therefore to leaks.
To ensure the serviceability of the full range of functions of the camera system,
the system must be cleaned, dried and disinfected after every inspection in the
sewer.
When you clean the equipment, wear the recommended personal safety kit
(protection gloves, safety shoes and protective goggles). There is a risk of
infection from germs.
Cleaning of the system: R Remove coarse dirt and foreign bodies which could impair the camera
movements.
R Rinse the system thoroughly with tap water. Rinse liquid sewage from the
slits, rotary transmissions and sealing areas. Use a hose and a brush for
cleaning.
R Please note the following for operation on waste dumps or on the industrial
sector (e.g. in chemical plants):
- For cleaning, special measures are required
- Please consult the service department at IBAK
No high pressure cleaners, solvents or general purpose cleaners may be
used, as otherwise synthetic parts and seals will be damaged. This can lead to
leaks.
To the cleaning only water or isopropanol (isopropyl alcohol) is allowed.
When lighting housings are replaced, do not use any liquid screw-securing
products.
Drying: Always dry the camera system, in particular the slits and sealing areas, after
cleaning. To dry, compressed air from a compressed air cylinder or from a
compressor can be used if applied with caution.

The LEDs of the ORION are located behind the lamp caps. To replace the LEDs,
the lamp caps must be removed.
Several groups of LEDs are arranged on each segment (board). If several LEDs
are faulty, you should replace the complete segment.
Axial lighting: 1 segment each (top and bottom)
with 1 group of 4 LEDs each
Radial lighting: 1segment each (left and right)
with 4 groups of 4 LEDs each
Replacement of lamps, axial: Unscrew 2 screws on each to remove both axial lamp caps.
The lamp segments behind the lamp caps can now be removed.
Check the sealing rings of the lamp caps. Clean and grease as required or
replace if necessary.

The LEDs of the ancillary light are located behind the lamp cap. To replace them,
the lamp cap must be removed.
The LEDs are arranged on 3 segments (boards). Each segment holds 15 groups
of 4 LEDs each, i.e. a total of 60 LEDs per segment.
If several LEDs are faulty, the complete segment should always be replaced.
Unscrew the 3 radial fixing screws and the vent screw and
remove the light cap.
The lamp segments behind the light cap can now be removed.
Always check the sealing ring of the light cap. Clean and grease as required
or replace if necessary.

The tyres are specially designed to wear badly in order to increase the ground
adhesion and thus the traction strength of the KRA. The tyres must be replaced
as soon as they are worn by more than 50 %.
Replacement of tyres: R Remove the old tyres from the rim or cut them off.
Put the appropriate mounting cone on the rim .
Slide the new tyre over the mounting cone on to the rim. Take care not to
twist the tyre in the process.
Replacement of Tyres:
1 Mounting cone
2 Wheel rim
3 New tyre
Ensure that the storage and operating temperature of the tyres of 45 C is not
exceeded. Always store in a cool, dark place (no UV-radiation).

Grease sand deflector: The sand deflector plates (a) in the ORION head must be greased at least once
every three months with silicone grease Medium 33. If the ORION is operated as
a pushrod camera and therefore gets dirty faster, it must be greased more
frequently in accordance.
1 With a disposable syringe ( 0.8 mm), press a little silicone grease into the
two drillholes in the fork.

Notes on shipment of cable: The camera cable can be shipped in a cardboard box with dimensions not
exceeding those of a Europalette or on a storage drum.
R Ensure that the cable is placed in the cardboard box without any twists. This
makes it easier to wind it onto the reel later on.
R Faults mainly occur near the cable connections. Damage to the body of the
cable should be marked with adhesive tape and the distance from the end
should be indicated.
R It must be possible to pull the end with the KKD out of the cardboard box
without having to lift out the entire coil of cable.

Replacement of sliding block: The sliding block is made of plastic and is subject to normal wear. If the guide
surfaces are too severely worn, the sliding block must be replaced.
When you replace the sliding block, the new one must be inserted in the groove
of the cross spindle from which the old sliding block was removed. If the sliding
block is installed the wrong way round, the guide roller runs contrary to the
winding direction of the cable. Before putting the winch into operation, turn the
cross spindle with the handwheel to check the direction of the guide roller.
