FESTIVALS

DASARA Festival an ancient thanksgiving to nature

Shivaratri the night of Siva.. even more ancient
Festival of Ganesh--who has the head of an elephant

CULTURE , SOCIO, TECHNOLOGY stuff

The fabulous Damascus or UKKU steel was made somewhere nearby

Cave paintings near Hyderabad (neolithic?)
Prehistoric Megaliths in Hyderabad --huge megalithic granite tombs
Surabhi Theatre, founded 1899. Unlikely to last much longer, though
Nadasvaram, traditional trumpet or reed instrument
Cycle rickshaws, human pedalled transport. Used to be very common, fewer seen today.
autorickshaws --three wheeled taxis, zipping all over the city.
