SUBJECTS PRELIM GRADE
Accounting 2a&b 65
Business Statistics 81
Economics 2 81
Social Teachings of the Church 85
Computer 2 89
Oral Communication in Context 92
World Culture 95

a. Average Grade
Mean= 65 + 81 + 81 + 85 + 89 + 92 + 95
7
= 588
7
Mean = 84

The average prelim grade I got was 84.

b. Median
Median = 7/2 +
= 4th
Median = 85

Fifty percent of the prelim grades are higher than 85 and fifty percent is below 85.

c. Mode
Mode = 81

The most frequent prelim grade was 81.

d. Standard Deviation

x Mean (x mean) (x mean)2

65 84 -19 361
81 84 -3 9
81 84 -3 9
85 84 1 1
89 84 5 25
92 84 8 64
95 84 11 121
= 590
sd = (x x) ^ 2
n-1

sd = 590
6

sd = 9.91 or 10

The prelim grades have a high variability and are heterogenous because it is far from each other.

e . Skewness
Sk = 3 (Mean Median)
Standard Deviation
= 3 (84 85)
10
= -0.3
The prelim grades are fairly symmetrical.
The skewness of my prelim grades is negatively skewed that many of my grades are higher
than the average.

Statistic Grade Z - Score

Z score = Raw Mean
Standard Deviation
= 81 - 83.79
4.15
= -2.79
4.15
= -0.67
Z score = 24.86%
The prelim grade I got in Statistics is below the class mean 83.79.

Grades are not the most important thing in the world because I believe that it is only a reflection
of a person being a good test taker not a good student. However, we still strive to study so we
can make a good reflection of ourselves not only for ourselves but for the people who believes in
us and for the people who tries to pull us down. I know that I am more than a grade.

I will still exert extreme efforts to improve my grades and myself; to continuously learn
something we can apply in real life that is profound, deep, and self-less. Again, I know that I am
more than a grade.
