BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION

Emergence of Pakistan was an event of paramount importance in the history of South Asia in 20 th
century. It was aimed to be a land where Muslims of the sub-continent would be able to secure their
identity and culture from the dominance of Hindu majority and to translate their dreams of freedom,
justice and equality into reality. This, however, remains a cherished dream even after 65 years have
passed since the establishment of Pakistan. Thus, the study of the Pakistan Movement and the political
history of Pakistan becomes the most important subject that our new generations need to be taught in
an unbiased, objective and realistic way.

This course is an extensive comprehension of various dimensions of Pakistan as a state and as a nation.
Since the University level degree demands a broader perspective of knowledge, this course aims to cover
a sufficient and thought-provoking study of Pakistans historical background, political history and culture,
