The Four Annual Afflictions

Every year, one must take note of the locations of the three important afflictions. These are the
Grand Duke Jupiter, the Deadly Five Yellow and the Three Killings. The location of these three
afflictions changes every year. Each of the three afflictions occupy different angles in terms of
degrees the Grand Duke occupies only fifteen (15) degrees, the Five Yellow occupies forty-five
(45) degrees and the Three Killings occupies ninety (90) degrees, so the extent of their impact on
the floor area of the houses and buildings will differ.

The Grand Duke Jupiter or Tai Tsui

He is said to be the god of the year and is thus located in the fifteen degrees of the compass that
correspond to the animal sign of the year. To ensure good feng shui throughout the year it is vital
that you should never sit directly facing the Grand Dukes location for that year, even when that
direction is your best direction as per other feng shui formula. Never also disturb the peace and
quiet of the Grand Dukes palace. This means that you should not play loud music in the
corresponding location. You should also not quarrel there nor undertake constructions and
renovations that involve banging, digging and demolition.

People born in the animal year directly opposite the ruling animal are in direct conflict with the
Grand Duke.

In the year of the Rat, the Grand Duke is located in the North. Opposite animal sign is
Horse.
In the year of the Ox, the Grand Duke is located in the North/Northeast. Opposite animal
sign is Sheep.
In the year of the Tiger, the Grand Duke is located in the East/Northeast. Opposite animal
sign is Monkey.
In the year of the Rabbit, the Grand Duke is located in the East. Opposite animal sign is
Rooster.
In the year of the Dragon, the Grand Duke is located in the East/Southeast. Opposite
animal sign is Dog.
In the year of the Snake, the Grand Duke is located in the South/Southeast. Opposite

In the year of the Sheep, the Grand Duke is located in the South/Southwest. Opposite
animal sign is Ox.
In the year of the Monkey, the Grand Duke is located in the South/Southeast. Opposite
animal sign is Tiger.
In the year of the Rooster, the Grand Duke is located in the West. Opposite animal sign is
Rabbit.
In the year of the Dog, the Grand Duke is located in the West/Northwest. Opposite animal
sign is Dragon.
In the year of the Pig, the Grand Duke is located in the North/Northwest. Opposite animal
sign is Snake.
The Nasty Five Yellow or Wu Wang

The Nasty Five Yellow is the most deadly of the three annual afflictions especially during the years
when it flies into Earth and Fire element sectors. It is at its most powerful when it afflicts the main
door or when it enters the bedroom. It brings severe illness, financial loss and obstacles to
success. It is also known to cause hostility.

The common remedy is to use a different door or bedroom.

The Three Killings or Saam Saat

One must avoid having the Three Killings at his back. You can confront it though.

In the year of the Ox, Snake and Rooster, the Three Killings is in the East.
In the year of the Pig, Rabbit and Sheep, the Three Killings is in the West.
In the year of the Monkey, Rat and Dragon, the Three Killings is in the South.
In the year of the Dog, Horse and Monkey, the Three Killings is in the North.
