Introduction

A Soldier for Jesus by Patricia Maxwell narrates the childhood experiences and

struggles of Charles Andrews and his family in spreading the advent message. Set in

Rochester, New York around the time of the Civil War and few years after the Great

Disappointment, this spiritual book offers an enlightenment of the daily life of the

nineteenth-century American Seventh-Day Adventist household. A non-fictional story

that tells the struggle and survival of an Adventist family who believed in the power of

God in healing their crippled son and how the main character molded his son to follow

their footsteps as missionaries of God through their personal stories of faith in keeping

God's laws and the Sabbath.

Conclusion

Among the beautiful lessons to be adapted from A Soldier for Christ, the essence

of complete faith to God is one that any reader should uphold and absorb. Anyone of us h

ere can say that we're faithful to God and that's completely amazing. However, the examp

le set upon by the Andrews family is one exemplary act. I was drawn with J. N. Andrews

s courageous act of complete faith to God. As a God-fearing man, he never turned his bac

k away from him despite of all struggles disappointments his family had. The Andrews h

ad rough times, but their entire family took hold of God's promises and remained faithful

encouraging and strengthening each other J.N Andrews and his wife told Charles their Go

d's miraculous stories when he was crippled, they prayed without ceasing, they never dou

bted God, the kids loved and honored their parents, they shared one goal as a family and t

hat's to spread God's word.
