About Scomi Rail

Scomi Rail is a leading provider of urban transit systems. It is one of only two integrated
monorail system providers in the world to offer end-to-end solutions including the design,
fabrication and integration of the monorail rolling stock (the travelling component in a rail
system) and related electro-mechanical systems.

Our expertise extends to the specialised areas of signaling, power distribution, communication,
Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Automated Fare Collection (AFC) for
monorail and light rail transits (LRT) via our partnerships with established vendors and
suppliers.

Scomi is known for its success in launching Malaysias first monorail system the KL
Monorail in 2003. Today, Scomi is extending its presence into new cities across the world,
including Hanoi, Vietnam, as well as other parts of Asia, South America, the Middle East and
Africa.

The Companys strengths are a proven track record as well as an extensive manufacturing and
testing capability (including a brand new complete production facility and a 1-km test track
based in Rawang, Malaysia).

Our strength in Research & Development (R & D) arena has also come to the fore with the
development of our next generation monorail; known as SUTRA. SUTRA, which stands for
Scomi Urban Transit Rail Application, is the latest monorail system offering to the world -
one which provides for better capacity, ergonomics and safety.

In the next 25 years, it is expected that 60% of the global population (some 4.9 billion people)
will live in cities and towns. These urbanites will require a mode of transportation that is able
to cater to the bustling needs of a fast growing and thriving metropolitan. It is expected that 93%
of this urban growth will stem from Africa, Asia and to a lesser extent; Latin America and the
Caribbean.

There is a need for improved, integrated city travel to meet the needs of global rapid
urbanisation. The people movers of the future must be environmentally friendly, energy
efficient and cost effective.

Scomis goal is to meet these challenges in the best way possible through the use of our
inherent strengths in technology, experience and expertise, met by a passion to reshape urban
transportation for the future. The goal is to reshape the current direction of urban transportation
from one fraught with uncertainty and challenges; to a clear vision of smooth, comfortable and
clean travel with the monorail being a central part of this new urban landscape.
Our History

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd was established to place all three rail operators of Prasarana Malaysia
Berhad (Prasarana) Ampang Line, Kelana Jaya Line and Monorail Services under one
administrating umbrella.

The history of Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd traced back to 2002 when Prasarana officially took over the
assets and operations of Star-LRT and Putra-LRT; and changing the name to Ampang Line and
Kelana Jaya Line respectively. In 2007, the rail operations of Prasarana grew bigger with the
acquisition of KL Monorail services.

Until the full Auto Fare Collection (AFC) integrated ticketing system in 2012, the three rail
networks operated independently on their own ticketing system. Through AFC, all three rail
networks use MyRapid Card as common ticketing mode or tokens for single journeys; allowing
travel within the same roof.

With a combined ridership of more than half a million daily, the rail services of Rapid Rail Sdn
Bhd are the key revenue-generating contributor for the group. Apart from transport convenience
via the AFC, waiting time in between trains at the LRT and Monorail has been made much
shorter with increased frequencies, and more comfortable with the introduction of four-car trains
for the Kelana Jaya line in 2010.
