New technologies for cars

2.- Deactivation of Cylinders

Also displacement on demand, active fuel control. This technology "shuts" some engine
cylinders when they are not needed. (Essentially it closes the valves of some cylinders so
that it stops pumping fuel the air to them. This temporarily converts an 8 or 6 cylinder engine
into a single 4 or 3 cylinder engine, saving fuel).
3.- Direct Gasoline Injection (GDI)
Also called direct fuel injection, direct injection of spark ignition. In conventional gasoline
engines, fuel is injected into the receiving port and mixed with air, and then carried into the
cylinder. (In direct injection systems the fuel is injected directly into the cylinder, which makes
the fuel-air mixture somewhat cooler. Cooler air allows for greater compression radius and
/ or more efficient ignition timing).
4,5.- 6-stroke diesel engine with two injections of diesel
Time 1. Admission; When the piston comes down with the inlet valve open sucks air through
the filter.
Time 2. First Compression; Raise the piston with the valves closed compressing the air
increasing its temperature.
Time 3. 1st Combustion; On the very hot air is made the first injection of diesel that ignites
by pushing the piston, torque. (Particles may remain without burning. Oxygen is removed
and the conditions for the generation of nitrogen oxides are prepared by the high
temperatura).
Time 4. 2nd Compression; Raise the piston with the valves closed compressing the gases
burned in the first combustion. (There may be unburned particles completely and oxygen
surplus that would produce oxides of nitrogen).
Time 5. 2nd Combustion; The second injection of diesel fuel is produced which rapidly
ignites at high temperature, consuming in the process oxygen and pushing the piston, more
torque. (The resulting high temperature burns the residual particles, a process that also
consumes oxygen and prevents oxides of nitrogen from occurring).
Time 6. Escape; Opens the exhaust valve and rises from the piston pushing the gases to
the outside, without particles or oxides of nitrogen, or with much less amount of both
contaminants.
7.- TurboCharger
It is known as a turbocharger, to the component, composed of two turbines; Rotating on the
same axis. 1 turbine uses the force derived from the exhaust gases, to rotate or rotate, taking
in the rotation the central axis of the two turbines. (In Other words: the two turbines and the
central axis rotate together; The thrust force to turn, is received by one of the turbines; Which
is blown by the exhaust gases. The other turbine is called the compressor, because it
receives the rotating force of the first, to compress the mixture, and push it into the cylinders).
8.- Autopilot
Earlier this year, Tesla launched a new autopilot system in its "Model S", which allows to
keep the vehicle centered within a lane automatically, to control the speed and to change
lane mechanically, by means of the Turn signal indicator.
9.- Remote control for parking

The BMW 7 Series also has a keychain that comes with a small video screen, which
allows the driver to move the car from a distance, which is very useful if you are in a
parking lot. (Although this innovation is offered in several markets, it is not yet available in
the United States. The National Traffic Safety Administration announced that it will soon
allow BMW to offer this system).
10.- Pre-collision systems
Pre-collision systems are considered the most significant development in automotive safety
technology from air bags. (By means of a millimeter-wave radar or stereoscopic cameras,
the pre-collision systems constantly observe the vehicle environment and warn, with a sound
or visual warning, of potential hazards. More advanced versions can use the brake if the
collision is unavoidable).
11.- Laser Light
A laser diode generates an almost dot-like luminous flux in a few thousandths of a millimeter.
Brightness is now almost four times greater than that of an LED. (This means that headlights
can be made even smaller in the future - without having to give up the intensity of light. The
main benefit for drivers is that these headlamps will have the greatest range provided by
any current headlight technology. This provides improved driver visibility, resulting in
increased road safety).
12.- Automatic doors
The trunk opens with a button or with the simple approximation of the occupant carrying the
electronic key. (They are solutions for the elderly who like all users when they use them.
The key has become an expensive element of the vehicle).
13.- Smart Tires
(The fact of controlling the pressure of the tires from the instrument panel or even inflate
them already takes for granted). Run-flat tires must be added in the future to tires and wheels
capable of transforming the movement into electricity and transferring that energy to the
propulsion or electric consumption of the vehicle. (The hybrid vehicle will be so efficient that
in a few years it will be forbidden to enter European cities with diesel cars).
14.- Adaptive Suspensions
Adaptive suspensions scan the condition of the pavement and driving style up to a thousand
times a minute to harden or soften the shock absorbers. (Self-leveling suspensions or those
that raise the vehicle in case of getting off the road and entering mountain roads are level
advances still vetoed by few vehicles).
