CHAPTER 3

METHODOLOGY

Research Design

There will be only one major tool methodological framework that the researchers

will employ in this study: descriptive correlational. According to Leedy & Ormrod (2001),

a correlation research seeks for variables that connects with each other, so that when

one variable changes, the researcher had an idea on how the other variable change as

well. For instance, if the first variable increases and the other variable increase as well

then it will result to a positive correlation. On the other hand, if the first variable

increases while the other decreases then it will result to a negative correlation. In

addition, according to Price and Oswald (2008), correlational studies involve testing null

hypothesis to see if the relationship of the two variables is statistically significant.

Research Locale

The research will be conducted with in the University of Mindanao Main Campus.

The researchers are students from University of Mindanao wherein the respondents of

the study will also be chosen. Furthermore, the researchers are Accountancy and

Computer Science students, thus the respondents are randomly students. It will then be

easy for them to find the specific respondents and conduct the research.
Research Instrument

The major tool that will be used in the data gathering process will be a survey

questionnaire. Each variable of the study will have a separate questionnaire. The

questionnaire we created on Enhancing Learning Styles. Each indicator consists of

eleven questions, nine for the learning styles and two for the reasons.

The survey questionnaire will undergo validation by the chosen poll of experts.

This will ensure that the survey questionnaires that will be adapted and created by the

researchers are appropriate, valid and reliable to the study.

Research Respondents

Each course will have at least 10 or more respondents so a total of 40 respondents.

Furthermore, each respondent will be a second-year regular or irregular student.

Table 1 shows the distance of the 40 respondents per course. Accountancy course

consists of 15 males and 15 females, a total of 30 or 50%, the Accounting Technology

also consists of 15 males and 15 females, which will comprise 50% of the total sample.
COURSE STUDENTS PERCENTAGE

ACCOUNTANCY 20 50%

ENGINEERING 10 25%

PSYCHOLOGY 5 12.5%

INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY 5 12.5%

TOTAL 40 100%
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURES

1. Seeking permission to conduct the study. The researchers will seek permission from

the principals/deans of the students that will participate in the study.

2. Administration and distribution of the questionnaires. After the approval of the heads

or principals, the researchers will then seek the participants. Before they will answer the

questionnaires, the researchers will again seek consent to the parents of the students to

let their children participate in the study. After the approval, the study will commence.

3. Retrieval of the questionnaires. The data will then be retrieved, collected, tallied,

tabulated, analyzed and interpreted confidentially and accordingly through the aid of the

satisfaction.
