The written work below, is information which was discussed in the client meeting.
Everything we spoke about, is what will be included in the Gap Travel website, which
appeals all the client's needs.

This is decided by myself & shown on mood board, with examples of Font, format, size &
different colour.
Background
I can choose which colour schemes & themes I want to use.

At least two clips, between 5-10 seconds long, must include animation. Such as, rolling
animation, flash or photoshop.

Must create buttons, which work efficiently. You can download them, create them in
software or produce them in photoshop. Also, should be able to close the button.

You can use sound in your 5-10 short video or have a button which allows the client to hear
music. And they have the option to turn it on and off.
Story board
4 things included, splash page, contents page, sub contents page and a sample page.
Navigation chart
Any chart which works, make sure it flows into the product, into its pathway.
Logo
You must design and create the logo for gap travel, having it linked with the product were
selling the consumer. Logo is important.
It needs to fully work, like clicking buttons on the page to bring you onto new sections &
pages.
Using the clients brief and some market research, I have produced a detailed proposal to
the client which covers the following:
a. Identifies all the client's needs: Gap travel is a marketing product which advertises a
service for people, between the age of 16 & 30. Gap travel allows people to take gap
year to reduce the stress of everyday life within jobs, college and university. It gives
people a chance to enjoy activities of their choice which can range from, adventure,
travel, thrilling activities, festivals, unique events and opportunitys. Im going to
produce this on a CD ROM, entitled things to do before youre thirty.
The product needs to be targeted to both male and female audiences, it would also
benefit if it has ethical & disability needs took into consideration, as it will appeal to
a wide variety of target audiences. Storyboards will need to be produced for a splash
page, contents page & two sample pages. And a logo needs to be created for Gap
travel.

b. Identifies the type of production:

its a multimedia product, which will be put on a CD ROM.

c. Consideration of the target audience: Gap travel want to appeal to a wide variety of
target audiences. Mainly aging between 16 & 30 and it must appeal for both male or
female. If possible, it also needs to be suitable to people of different ethnic
backgrounds or people with any disabilitys. I will take into consideration 30 possible
ideas which can be used in the Gap Travel product, then pick a further 12 activities
which will be used on the product. I can list them into categorys, like travel, sport,
adventure, thrills etc.

d. Market research on similar online products:

Research should be based on other websites, which
market similar products, like Gap year & travel
opportunitys. I will need to look at some websites to
understand what works well & what things appeal
most to customers when they take a gap year.
Market research will help me make a more successful
product & will aesthetically please my client
(Gap Travel) its important to do plenty of
market research, to compare what they must
offer and how we can do better.
If other Gap Year sites are offering travel opportunitys, we could do better and pick
more exciting places for tourist. Such as, Paris city tour, New York city tour, Venice
city breaks, Route 66 road trip, back packing round Australia or even staying in an
igloo in Finland and the South Pole.

Gap travel needs to choose 12 good activities. Most other rival companys base
their product around travel, thrills and adventure. These seem to be the most
popular categorys and the strongest to rival with the other competitors, based in
the same work area. Most websites appear to offer, sport skills and volunteer work
as well, but they also include holiday breaks and travel. I found on one website, they
did an Australia costal package, which explored many beaches along the coast & you
get taught to surf for a few weeks and learn other water sports activities. Which in
my opinion, sounds interesting. Other companys do thrilling packages, such as sky
dives or bungee jumps, Scuba diving or swimming with sharks. These also attract
customers that wish to do risks and activities.
Here are a few websites which have similar products to Gap travel:

e. Details of the content: The content must be appealing, if people dont enjoy the
activities available, they probably wont go with any company. Gap Travel needs to
wow the target audience, by making sure it appeals to everyone. Whether its visiting
the world's most incredible beaches, backpacking in the outback of Australia or even
sky diving out of planes or the top of the highest skyscrapers, there needs to be a lot
of ideas & options available for everyone. A brief description of each idea would be
best when talking about the activities available, but each paragraph must be detailed
with lots of facts and information. It's also best to use the same text size and font
throughout, as it looks more professional

f. Details of the layout: The layout will be planned and assessed with the use of
storyboard and sketches, before the initial mock design. I will need to roughly design
a few logos, which will then be decided which one is used to market the Gap travel
product, it will be a mutual decision between myself and the client as to which logo
is created, therefore it saves time having to re-design other logos. Essentially the
layout needs to be gender neutral, clear, well planned, colourful, creative, unique,
professional. I will use the page widely spread, so every inch gets used. But, its best
to avoid crowding things onto pages. It can look a mess, with lots of pictures, videos,
big titles & buttons, large text or animation. The deign layout look Im going to try
and achieve is more cooperate and professional.

Here is a few layouts to look at:

I like the layout on the right, the boxes look tidy and in order. It looks more appealing and its
easier to focus on, compared to the design on the left. The first design has too many things
going on, which makes it look messy or a bit unprofessional. After looking at other websites
& other peoples past designs, most people prefer a similar layout design, like the second one.
I want to differentiate myself, to make my layout look more unique and attractive. I cant
decide between a more cooperate & professional style or a type of fun & unique layout style.
g. Suggestions for its visual style: for a visual style, I want the product to look
professional & unique. In my opinion big buttons, bold writing, overly large images
or text, can sometimes come across as unappealing. It looks like the contents page is
overcrowding if there is too much things on one page, which doesnt give of a
professional vibe. Even though I want this product to have a cooperate image, I also
want it to be unique and if possible, Id like it to
differentiate itself from other competitors on the
market. To do this, I will plan and sketch a few logos
and backgrounds, choosing the most stylish ideas. I think
the colour scheme needs to be gender neutral, as the
product is marketed for male and females, aging from
16-30. Pale blue colours, look clear and calm, I think
blue will be my main colour focus. purples, oranges,
yellows or reds could be possible colours in the design.
Because this product is aimed at a large target
audience. I shouldnt use feminine or masculine colours in the design, because there
needs to be a range of gender neutral colours so it can appeal to everyone.

h. Suggestions for its aesthetic qualities: I am aiming the

product at both male and females, therefore it needs
to have a gender-neutral colour scheme consistently
throughout. It could look unprofessional or
unappealing, if you click onto various pages and it
changed from pink to blue. Fonts should be clear and its easy to read, so it looks and
works well. It would also be best to avoid changing font text & size, otherwise it can
look a bit silly or unprofessional. The same applies for the colour scheme, avoid
changing the colours too often stick to a main colour and few other colours which
blend nicely, to give of a good vibe. The main colour I will use, will be pale/light
blues. The other colours could Range from purples, red pinks & oranges.

i. Identifies the format for publishing the finished product when complete:
The final product needs to be put onto a CD ROM. CD ROMS usually allow 500MB.
Whereas DVD ROMs can have up to 4.7GB or more. The product must be entitled
Things to do before you are 30. It will be saved as a Projector file in Director.

j. Describes the assets to be used both original and readymade: I will use a lot of
assets, both original and ready-made. Primary assets will be created by myself such
as, navigation, logos & animation. Secondary assets, is things like images and videos,
which is already made, I can just use them for the product.
k. The software photoshop, will be the source of what will create & edit my logo. To
find the logo ill look for images online, copy it and tweak it in the software. Adding
things, removing things, changing colour, background and text, until Im 100% happy
with my gap travel logo. In the mood board, it will be full of Fonts, colours and text
sizes. They will later be presented to the client and the best style for the product will
be chosen. The style will be professional yet unique. The mood board will also
contain images, background designs and navigation buttons. I want to go with simple
navigation buttons, nothing bold or large, as it fills the screen up & looks
unprofessional. Background colour will be gender neutral, light blues is my main
primary colour, I might even add ocean pictures to blend with the colour scheme, as
a possible category for the product, might be travel, thats where the blue colour
scheme and beaches flows into place. The colour scheme will be clear, so it gives of a
visual image to the client. The gap travel logo will be used from the internet
without permission, but edited to become the logo we want. New colours, words or
designs will be added to completely transform it from its original look.

l. List of all the multimedia elements of the product: Gap Travel multimedia product
will be made up of 30 ideas. Which we will then break down into the best twelve
ideas and use them in the gap travel product. Out of the twelve ideas, Ill form
three categories, eg. travel adventure thrills relax animals Etc...
Then out of the three categorys I decide on, I choose four activities that people can
choose from. If the category was travel Id pick four places to travel too with Gap
Travel, such as, America route 66 road trip, Caribbean islands, Australia city breaks
or Europes famous citys tour. The product also needs to contain some form of
sound, whether its background music playing or videos. Ideally, 2 videos should be
used on the product, can add more if I want too. Sound can sometimes be a big
issue; some people dislike visiting websites and admittedly hear music playing while
there trying to read about whats available. So, sound background music is a nice
touch, but if there is controls to mute the sound or turn it down. Roll over images
are a winner, its more exciting to run the curser over them, it doesnt use as much
space on the page and it doesnt cause crowding. It allows you to see more images,
which is great. These things should give a more professional vibe.

m. Ideas for logo: For the Gap Travel logo I havent decided on the design just yet. But
one of the categorys I want to use is travel based. So, Im thinking maybe a globe
because Gap travel will offer customers to travel the globe. Or possibly types of
travel transport, like planes, boats, trains, cars, coaches, ships, etc.
Here are a few images, which I could edit in adobe photoshop to create the
photoshop.
I like the idea of a logo, based on the world or famous monuments. Because it relates a lot
to Gap travel & what Gap travel must offer. I havent decided what my logo will look like yet,
Ill have more initial ideas once I produce a mood board and sketches.
The pictures above are hand drawn storyboards of the layouts and backgrounds I will
produce on the final piece. This was a rough guide to how I wanted it to work and look. The
background is a colour fade with the colours Im going to use. Warm colours and light blues.
This will be consistent throughout the website design.
